Fourth of July at Vernon Worthen Park in St George Utah is an annual event and tradition for many residents! Festivities are being held this year on Monday, July 4th, 2011. Start your day off with a home cooked breakfast provided by Staheli's Catering (7:30am-10:00am) in the park – $5.00 per adult; $3.00 per child (12 and under). The menu includes pancakes, eggs & hashbrowns.
Bring your blanket and enjoy some quality time relaxing with family and friends. There will be booths selling handmade crafts and other goods, food booths, face painting, cotton candy, watermelon seed spitting contests, a dunk tank, organized games throughout the day and the famous 100 foot Slip-N-Slide.
Don't miss the Hot Dog Eating Contest at 1:00 pm. Watch to see who wins the "PIG" award! Contestants are chosen based on best costume and creativity.
Wrap your day up by attending the musical talents of the KONY Country Showdown (with FREE admission) at 8:00pm at the Dixie Sunbowl which is located across the street from the park at 100 S 400 E. Spectacular FIREWORKS display begins at 10:00pm or at the conclusion of the talent show.
