I recently downloaded my Free Copy of Soci@l the Book .  And wow.  Soci@l is written by Ben Kinney and Jay Papasan.  I have been to ActiveRain's Rain Camp before and learned a lot from Ben.  So when I came across the book, I knew I needed to read it.  If you are like me you have read a lot of social media books on facebook, twitter, blogging, etc.  Or maybe read the articles online.  Many times, I walk away more confused then when I picked the book up.  Ben has done an amazing of writing a book about Social Media that is completely aimed at Realtors and the Real Estate business.  Which is super helpful, but he also writes in the form of a business plan.  Many of us have a big gumbo of social media.  A lot of friends on Facebook, a pinch of Twitter and some website do-dads.  But no real plan.  Ben takes care of that for you.  Here are just 5 tips of the many I walked away with from the book:

1.       It all goes  back to your website- You can tweet and post on facebook all day, but the goal is get the clients to land on your website.  Your website should have the most info possible for them.  So don't lose focus of the importance of your website

2.       Discipline yourself- You can not be online all day and sell real estate.  Make out a plan and stick to it.  They suggest not to do more then 20-40 mins a day of social media, etc.  I think you have to decide day by day.  If your busy, don't worry stick to the 20mins.  And if your not, get to that social media marketing!!!

3.       Blogging- How to structure a Blog and have it found online.  Be specific, aka local.  Don't write about Houston Real Estate.  Right about New Territory homes, etc

4.       Your Branding- You have to keep your Branding focused.  Keep the same theme in all your profiles, etc.  You don't want to contract yourself online.  And most importantly, don't start over.  You already have a brand, build on to it.

5.       Interact- there is no better way to grow your sphere then to interact.  This is also true of interacting online.  Make comments on blogs and posts, etc.

Ben and Jay have written an amazing book, that I would have been more then happy to pay for.  But its FREE.  I promise you will find it helpful.  If your just beginning to plan out your social media strategy this is a MUST have book for you.

@Gabrielle - Marketing is now on a different level and we have to adopt what buyers are currently using. Internet is a big help, you just have to make time and effort for it.

@Dave - Your Welcome! I'm glad you like the re-blog.
