Laramie, Wyoming Real Estate: More from the House Next Door
We have all heard of the mold problems but have you ever seen it to this extreme? I haven't and found Brenda's post very interesting! Check it out and please take a stroll over to her blog and let her know what you think!
Yesterday, I posted about the "house next door". Granted it has been a source of humor for me over the last few weeks but the reality is - what a shame! As I watched people go in and out, checking into this "once-in-a-lifetime bargain," I began to wonder about how safe it is for anyone to be wandering about inside this house, despite the warning written in ball point pen on a paper attached to the front door that says "Danger, extreme mold. Enter at your own risk." I also wondered about what will happen to the air in the neighborhood when somebody buys the home and goes about correcting the huge problem.
So I made a few phone calls, the EPA being one of them, and found out that pretty much no standards or guidelines exist in regard to mold (as opposed to asbestos, radon and lead paint). On the one hand I can see that this is good because we have enough overgregarious enforcement of rules in every aspect of living without adding more to the mix. On the other hand, I've heard all the stories of people becoming seriously ill from living in mold invaded homes.
So I find it curious that this field seems to still be in its infancy. Obviously a great deal of work still needs to be done to establish how to identify which molds are unsafe, to what degree their risk is, in what quantity, under which conditions and . . . so forth.
In the meantime, I will be keeping an eye out on what is going on next door. It will be interesting to see what will happen...

Enough from the house next door! I'm leaning towards a bright, colorful photo from the airy outdoors for my next post!
