Jack's Love Note

Tuesday's Treasures - Do They Have to Grow Up?

This is a note that my seven year old grandson left for his mother before she headed off to work.  I remember the days when I was my son's best girl.  Those days are few and do not last nearly long enough.  Sooner or later they are swept off their feet by another and mom takes second place. Treasure it while it lasts!

That's a very cute note. I even think so, and I have no children. But cute is cute.

Jon--A son's love for his mother is endearing to all.

Joni--Well, I know my sons love me, but I am happy that they are all happily paired with nice people and have moved on---as much as I would enjoy keeping them forever!

Lisa--I can just picture that.  There is nothing like the love between parents and children.

Karen--You can just feel the love exploding, can't you??

Kathy--I am amazed at the love my grandkids have for me---especially as busy as I am!

Tammy--You are so right, but I do remind my boys especially that I carried them in the womb for nine long months! :-)  Worth every minute!

Hi Pat,

So very cute, young sons are so very special, those were the fondest days in my life with my own son. Your photo reminded me of that.

Since then, I believe the old saying "Your daughter is your daughter the rest of her life, your son is your son till he takes a wife"...and thats exactly the way it should be!

Dale--You got that right!

Lynda--I really have found that to be true with my sons.  I am fond of my daughter-in-law and girl friends/partners, but the relationship definitely changes!

Hi, Pat... you are so right.  Both my girls were born premature, but thank goodness grew up healthy and well.  They are now 20 and 15 respectively and it went by in the blink of an eye.  You have to love each stage of their lives, while you can.

Eric--It is fun to watch our children become parents and experience what we did.  You have that to look forward to.  I am very proud of the parents my children have become!

Pat,

What a darling little note.

You are giving us the "hard truth" in your blog about mother-son relationships.  Mine is 22 next month and I am still his girl even though he just starting dating.  I know I will be the second girl in his life pretty soon. Sigh.
