Yes! Following on the heals of yesterday's exciting Insurance Awareness Day we have "Waffle Iron Day" today, June 29th. Of course, this is not to be confused with Waffle Day - that's in March. Sorry, but I stumbled upon some really odd holidays, but I'm a breakfast guy at heart and waffles are my Achilles heel. Besides one of my favorite breakfast places, Waffle House, doesn't pass the cleanliness test with my wife, so I rarely get to sample the best waffles around. Not to worry, I'm working on my kids and they're completely bought in to "The House".
But I digress, back to the Waffle Iron - Today we celebrate this great kitchen gadget that makes tasty waffles. You know the kind with the two metal plates that get heated up to create, light waffles ready for you to top with syrup and/or your favorite fruits. Remember, they're not just for breakfast anymore. Take it from me - waffles at lunch and dinner are now socially acceptable.
So why is the waffle iron remotely important when it comes to a Tampa and St. Petersburg custom home? Well it's one of the many must have small appliances for today's custom home. Ok, I know it's a stretch, but once you get past the major appliances like the oven, cooktop, fridge, microwave and dishwasher, it's time for a little fun. Every new home needs a good variety of small appliances and the waffle iron is high on my list. My other must haves include a coffee maker, toaster, and blender. How about a bread maker? Nothing beats the smell of fresh baked bread. What about a crock pot for those great stews? I've got friends that swear by their George Foreman grills, but I don't think I'll ever get past a bald ex-boxer pushing that thing. There are many days when I have to turn off the TV due to the many infomercials for juicers, cotton candy makers and ice cream makers. How come they are all $19.99 and they are always willing to double my order?
But it all comes back to the Waffle Iron. You do know how to celebrate this day...don't you? If you don't have a waffle iron, today is a great day to go out and buy one. If you're too busy to make waffles yourself, buy some frozen waffles in your grocery story or head over to my favorite waffle maker, Waffle House, but by all means enjoy a tasty waffle.
