Fall Clean Up -- Inside and Out!

Ahhhhhhh, the Fall weather is upon us.  Don't you just love that crisp, cool weather hitting your face as you walk outside.  Okay, so it was really tough covering the pool and preparing for winter in Michigan, but I like to relish this weather as long as I can.  So what are some of the things we need to think of for our selling clients?  Here's a few items at the top of my list.

1.  OUTSIDE PREPARATION.  We only have a few good weather weekends left to tidy up the outside of our homes and prepare for Old Man Winter!   We need to remind our selling clients to get rid of all of the dead or dying flowers and plants in the front yard.  Brown plants are NOT ATTRACTIVE!  Groom your lawn and put a winterizing fertilizer down so the grass looks good until . . . you guessed it -- SNOW!

2.  Purchase a fresh door mat.  Believe it or not, it makes a statement that you care about your home.  Adorn your front entrance with a few fall decorations.  Halloween will be upon us before you know it!  With all of the parents that bring their children around for trick-or-treating -- it's FREE ADVERTISING!  Your seller's enthusiasm and friendliness will go a long way in enticing potential buyers who may be "scoping out" the neighborhood for a new home.  So, encourage them to pass out candy (maybe even a home flyer or 2) and freshen up the outside for the fall season!

3.  We're spending a lot more time indoors now that the weather is changing.  How about sprucing up those tired walls?  Try a fresh, neutral coat of paint.  It doesn't take long but the results will catch a buyer's eye.  Maybe you just need to touch up some areas.  Just make sure you're prepared at all times to bring those buyers through!  With the number of available homes, you don't want to lose the attention of a potential purchase!

AND REMEMBER -- DECLUTTER AND DEPERSONALIZE THAT SPACE.  MAKE A BUYER FEEL LIKE THEY CAN BE RIGHT AT HOME IN YOUR HOME!
