Brevard Music Center kicks off its 75th Season

Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, The Brevard Music Center kicked off its 75th anniversary season on June 24th. This year's season runs through August 7th and includes 80 performances including 18 different orchestra programs, five opera productions, wind ensemble, chamber music, new music, recitals, and more. BMC has more than 400 students from around the globe enrolled to perform and to study with members of a distinguished artist faculty.

This combination of study and ambitious performance schedule makes Brevard Music Center one of America's premier summer training programs for young musicians. All of the orchestra programs occur in BMC's open-sided Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium and all Opera's are peformed at the Scott Concert Hall in the Porter Center at Brevard College where the singers perform without amplification, so that listeners can experience voices in their pure form.

Keith Lockhart will be conducting the Appalachian Spring performance on July 2 @ 7:30 pm with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra and featuring Eric Ohlsson, oboe. Copland's Appalachian Spring, Vaughan Williams' Oboe Concerto, and Stravinsky's Le sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring).
