Facebook Business Page

Facebook is one of the most powerful online technology tools available and it's growing at such a seriously blazing speed.  Everywhere I turn it seems like people are online viewing Facebook, checking their messages from Facebook, talking about Facebook, you probably already know that they have even made a movie called "The Social Network" which is about Facebook.  The bottom line is that Facebook is huge and I believe Facebook is the NEW Google of today.

While I was standing in line at the Best Buy checkout counter the lady in front of me was updating her Facebook status.  What totally blew my mind was that she was fully emerged in Facebook.  When I got home from Best Buy I was watching the news and the news anchor was reporting on a breaking story and at the end of his report he said "for an update on this story be sure to visit our Facebook page".  He didn't say come to channel 10 news.com!!!  He said FACEBOOK!!!

We recently launched a new Facebook Business Page Facebook.com/SamMillerTeam which was created by our friends at Real Pro Systems.  If you have a basic understanding of marketing and branding you know it is critical that you maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all of your marketing.  A compelling benefit of our new business page is that it extends the branding and theme of our KnoxCountyOhio.com website which Real Pro Systems also designed for us.

Our new Facebook Business Page is completely interactive and it is truly an extension of our primary website and it maintains our team theme and brand.   The new page design is unique because it not only features a custom "Welcome Page" but it also features two fully integrated client connection pages.  These pages enable the consumer to register and receive Knox County Listings by Email automatically and they can also request to list their home with our The Sam Miller Team using these online forms.  These unique pages are actually functioning within Facebook with the help of Real Pro Systems design team and they are uniquely integrated within my KnoxCountyOhio.com website.  An impressive feature that will save our team some valuable time is that once a consumer registers using our new forms within our Facebook business page our KnoxCountyOhio.com website will automatically sync the client contact info within our Real Pro Systems website.

When a consumer visits our new Facebook business page they can preview all of our real estate listings.  Each of our listings rotate in a slideshow format and they have a fully functioning and integrated link that is clickable and takes the visitor directly to that listing on our KnoxCountyOhio.com website.  This is much more visually pleasing and far more productive than using a website widget that drives consumers to competing websites like Postlets, Zillow, Trulia and REALTOR.com.  Would you rather have consumers surfing websites like REALTOR.com or would you rather have them viewing homes on your own website?  The answer is obvious and by utilizing an integrated Facebook Business Page like we have just launched you can do exactly what Facebook was designed to do which is connect with people.

Take a look at our new Facebook.com/SamMillerTeam pages and if you like what you see please "Like" us while you're there.

Sam, great idea!  I'm book marking for future reference as I need to do some updates to our website and relook at our FB Fan page.  Always great to have lots of cross-marketing.  Thanks!

FB just makes me sick, I find it the most unbusinesslike crass site out there IMHO.

Hi Sam ~ I'm not overly enthused about Facebook primarily because I think it's search function is abysmal.  Actually the second big drawback IMO is that the rules get changed arbitrarily all the time.  For these reasons I haven't wanted to sink much time into it and I'm just not that excited by it as a social site either.  No getting around the fact that at the moment loads of time is being spent on FB. Can't ignore it I guess.

I *really* like your page - and "like" in the traditional sense not in the FB twist of that word.  It's just super.  I love how it goes right to your site when you click on the link.  My memory before was that FB would give an ominous message about leaving the site (always thought that was very AOL of FB) so I'm psyched that it doesn't now.  I went to an RE BarCamp in Boston the other day and that was one of the best take-aways for me - using the FB business page as a direct link to your website - love that.

You've definitely encouraged me to get on this and upgrade my page. Thanks!!

Liz

John - Thanks and good luck with your page.

Wendy - Thanks!  We are very happy with how the pages turned out and even more pleased with the increased activity.

Ray - Thanks and I have a feeling you will be able to take the same concept and use it for your mortgage business.

Eric - Thanks!  You are 100% right about "Connectivity being the key".

Erica - Thank!  I agree and believe if we create an effective Facebook business page and use it right the business will flow and grow over time.

Beth - Thanks for commenting.  I really like your comment about "cross-marketing" and I hope people pick up on the concept.

Christine - Thanks!  The new page has already made a difference and I haven't contacted any of my existing Facebook friends yet to try to grow it further beyond just a post on my personal Facebook wall.  I have a feeling we could add hundreds of fans with very little effort.

Diane - Actually I didn't know the forms could be made before Real Pro Systems did my upgrade.  I had a nice page before this upgrade but the new page pulls with the email home search and list my home forms pulls in a lot more "instant response" from the visitors.

Lyn - I obviously do not understand why you feel the way you do about Facebook but I respect your view and I also know you can do a lot of business without Facebook.  However, I personally view Facebook as one of the ultimate drip systems available.  We can't ignore the fact that millions of people are spending more than 60 minutes of their day on Facebook and for that reason I believe our industry simply can't ignore Facebook.

David - Great to see you on ActiveRain and I appreciate everything you have done and continue to do for the real estate industry!!!  I am BEYOND EXCITED about using your new consumer video site and the delivery method will be amazing.  I bet it saves me another 5 hours each week plus it will help better educate my clients at the same time.  I can't wait to share it with my clients.

Elizabeth - Thanks and I seriously appreciate your detailed comments because it gives all of us another view on Facebook plus reconfirms a view that I share which is that we really can't ignore Facebook.

It is amazing how people are meeting each other Face(book) to Face(book) these days.  I have met people IRL (in real life) that have introduced themselves and said "hi Jim, I have been following (stalking) you on Facebook.

Jim - I agree!  I appreciate you mentioning meeting Facebook friends in IRL because it happens to me all the time.  I actually listed a house 3 weeks ago and the neighbor immediately friended me and then posted my website link on her Facebook wall because she wanted to attract one of her friends to become her neighbor.  The reach of Facebook is larger than most of us truly know.

I would love for everyone to "Like" my page at Facebook.com/SamMillerTeam.

Have a happy, fun and super safe 4th of July and if you are in or near Central Ohio tonight be sure to visit our area Fireworks in Mount Vernon Ohio.

I agree that social media sites do give a boost to your site. Facebook changing to the iframes upset many people, but it has allowed us to do exactly what you have done and put your websites "inside" Facebook as a tab.

Marte - The good news is that you really don't need to understand how to design this stuff if you are willing to hire a professional.  My custom Facebook Business Page was only $295 for a turn key upgrade so doing this isn't really expensive when you factor in the potential.

Mike - Thanks and hope you have yours up and running in July 2011!

Shay - Thanks!  Make it a goal to have it implemented this month and you will find a way!

Gerard - Thanks!  Yeah, I have been one of those people that was getting driven crazy by the constant changes because the page width got changed and it messed up the look of my previous design.  Now that the dust has cleared with Facebook I admit that I am pleased with the new format.

Gene - Thank you for the compliment!

I am pleasantly surprised that this topic received so many positive comments.  Thanks again!

I've been working on my facebook business page too.  I don't have consistency in branding, but I am trying to make sure to have all my online sites looking as good as possible and to actually make use of them.  I wasn't a big facebook fan for business, but you can hardly ignore it these days whether you like it or not...
