How to find a fabulous foreclosure, or a fraud!

Finding a foreclosure is not as easy as just searching through the MLS. Foreclosures can be tricky. Some foreclosures, are just ordinary homes that have been left vacant because their owners have fell on hard times and lost their homes. Other may have underlying issues.

Let me lay out the scenario of why.....

There is a home in my community that has been sitting for over 2 years vacant. The home is only 5 years old, and was built with all the builder upgrades, top of the line. As the previous owners left, the electricity was soon turned off. The home is on a flag lot, which backs to a small retention pond. There is a sump pump in the basement, and when the electricity was turned off the sump pump np longer functioned.

As the months passed, it rained, and snowed, and rained again. All while the water sat in the basement, as the house sat.... ALONE. As the months turned to years, the home continued to sit. Many have done BPO's, as many have been nosy and peeked in the windows asking questions about the home.

Last week, two toothless men pulled in the driveway, in an old van. They paraded in the home, with rags tied around their faces, and trash bags duct taped to their legs. The duo asked to borrow a bucket of water, "clean or dirty, it don't matter." Asking what they were doing, they replied they were pumping the stagnant water out of the basement, and spraying the walls with bleach.

I have sat in on a few mold remediation classes, I am no expert, but I DO NOT believe that these are appropriate mold remediation remedies. The bank is putting the home on the market, as soon as it is bleached.

This seems dangerous to me. It seems that more professional measures should be taken to ensure the fact that future owners are not affected by the mold. How can a bank allow such unprofessional workers "fix" a serious problem like this? This is a huge, well know bank, who your mortgage may be through.

I know I would not want to buy this foreclosure, no matter how good the deal may be!

I agree more needs to be done.. Horible that the bank is not concerned more about the mold issue.
