Hello real estate professionals!

I’m a new member here at Active Rain, and . . .wait for it . . . not involved in real estate. I’m a writer. So what am I doing here? Well, back to that in a moment.

First I want to tell you a little about my journey to get here. I’ve been a commercial writer for more than 20 years and an adjunct college writing professor for nearly that long. I love writing of all sorts and have done most of types—from proposals to fiction, from advertising to journalism. I won’t get into the particulars; you can get details from my bio. I love teaching too. My students are my joy, and I have had to the honor of teaching thousands over a 19 years career.

A few of them became writers too.

So here's the story: My husband retired from being a police detective in 2008, and we began a serious hunt for a house in an area we fell in love with years before: Cherokee County, North Carolina. Bill began emailing an agent that was extremely helpful. Cyndi Daves knew just what we were looking for, and in May of 2008 we got the call. “Come down here NOW. I have your next house.” I gave my last final exam; we packed up the dogs and made the trip from northern Ohio to the Southern Appalachian Mountains.

And what do you know? She was right. We moved into our lovely, rather remote, mountain log home a month later. And although I started CRT Writing before leaving Ohio, I ramped up my business and eventually became CRT Commercial Media.Log home in Marble, North Carolina

So this brings me back to why I am on Active Rain. Cyndi and her husband Bill became friends, and Cyndi suggested this is a good outlet to meet new people and see what we had to offer each other. CRT Commercial Media primarily serves small business—the people who keep this country running. Not only would I like to offer my services as a writer, but, as I mentioned, I love to write, and I am using this venue to write a weekly column about issues in the real estate business. I’ll start the column next Wednesday (July 15) and post every week after that. And if you have any ideas for topics, please write me at catherine@crtwriting.com

You can also go to my website at http://crtwriting.com

Thanks for having me here, and I hope we all become friends.
