Here is a freebie for you.  It wasn't Al Gore

Let's just remember back to the 70's television classic from Prell Shampoo.  "I loved it and I told 2 friends and they told 2 people and so on and so on."

Social media is as old as there were cavemen who had too many pelts and needed more rocks from the cave next door.  But for some reason, people think Social Media is new.  Ever go to a Grip and Grin meeting?  Yep. Social media.  But since Social Media day is about the new age of Social Media.  So in that respect, here are the Top 15 social sites, see if you recognize any after the top 4.

  1. Facebook
  2. Twitter
  3. Linked In
  4. MySpace
  5. Ning
  6. Tagged
  7. Orkut
  8. hi5
  9. myyearbook
  10. Meetup
  11. Badoo
  12. bebo
  13. MyLife
  14. Friendster
  15. Multiply

But what about the social sharing tools?

Surely you want to make sure that your fans can tell their friends about you and so on and so on.  Here are the top 8 social sharing utilities.  There are like 100, but these are the ones that might actually help you out.

  1. Facebook Like
  2. Facebook Send
  3. Tweetme by twitter
  4. Share by Linked In
  5. Google +1
  6. Stumble Upon
  7. Digg it
  8. Google Buzz

And there you have it.  Now share this article with 2 friends and so on and so on.

I remember that commercial!  It is amazing how the social media can take something so simple and make it go viral creating instant celebrities because they told two friends, and they told two friends!

You are correct, I remember how yspace was the big craze before facebook took over....now myspace is barely holding on. Just like QR codes, that's now new technology either. Heck, the internet seems to be "new" to most brokers too, as is smart phone. LOL

Nice list. I wonder where you got it. I love the Realtor.com seminars where they always show a graph of the most used home search sites - their's is always on top, but I wonder where they get the information.

Chris -- I never heard of half of those social sites. Yikes, there are a lot! That's a good analogy with that shampoo commercial.  Was it Prell? Think it was another brand?

OK. I know a couple more than the top 4 and all of the tools. Plus I actually remember Prell Shampoo.

And I'm as old as dirt, so you can't stereotype me! But I am getting tired of all the new tech tools. Maybe I should go back to grip and grin.
