What's Wrong With This Picture? Door Alteration...

By
Home Inspector with U.S. Inspect, LLC

Answer: .....To Accomodate The Light Bulb!

I suspect the homeowner thought long and hard about this dilemma. I'm curious to know which was installed first, the light or the door. At any rate, the problem was promptly solved with minimal disruption. Well, sort of.....

Thanks to Bob Phillips from our Maryland Area inspection team for this submission posted at U.S. Inspect blog.

This is awesome!!  Very creative!  I wonder how many light bulbs they went through before they actually cut the door... Great photo!

Enjoy your weekend!!

Hi Bob - That's great problem solving, and extremely attractive as well. If only I had the opportunity to do that at home, I bet it would be the last time Mary gave me a handyman chore.

I had the same reactions the moment I saw the picture!  Too funny and sooooo creative.  This really was at the interior of the home!

I like Bob's suggestion that Mary may think twice before giving him anymore handyman chores........hmmmmm.....now that would give me some more free time.....???

Ha!  That reminds me of some of the rat holes here in Manhattan than you pay an arm and a leg for and everything in the apartment is jerry rigged in some comical way.

That's either a tall door or very low ceiling. Can't believe anyone would think this was a solution.

Haha!  Amazing how creative people can be when faced with a mistake.  I saw one yesterday - a outside patio fan with no blades. Apparently the slope of the roof was so low the blades hit the top - so they just took off the blades.  Looked pretty silly.

Oh my goodness!  It kind of reminds me of a couple houses that had part of the eave to the roof sawed away to make room for a large overgrown tree with expanding girth.  One in particular, had cracked and raised up the foundation with its root system.  But the homeowner was focused on sharing roof space with the tree!
