Here are Four Great Patriotic Films for the 4th you might want to watch this weekend:

  1. The Patriot - A great fictionalized account based on real American Revolutionary Events and People.

  2. 1776 - A musical based on the events around the Declaration of Independence.  Historically interesting dialog and events.

  3. The Last of the Mohicans - Although dealing more with the French and Indian war it certainly provides background on many of the issues and shows American Frontier Character.

  4. Gettysburg - This film is a great film and the battle and the men involved.  Although not the from the Revolutionary Period the Civil War was certainly a time when the Union evolved more fully and became much stronger.

Can you suggest any others?

My favorite on your list is Gettysburg! You really need surround sound for the full effect. And let's not forget Johnny Tremaine!

Gene - All great suggests and I've seen most of them except 1776.  I like Wallace's suggestions too.  My personal faves are Born on the 4th of July and Independence Day.  However the other day, hubby asked me if I would get go and get Saving Private Ryan this weekend (at blockbuster).  WOW!!!  That was out of the blue and one I haven't seen in a long time.
