Active Rain Milestones

I’ve had a lot of milestones in my life: My sweet 16, junior (and senior) prom which were filled with dancing, dreaming and floating among the stars…truly magical evenings. My 21st birthday, the birth of my son, my first day in radio, buying my first home (thank goodness that was 20 years ago!) and marrying a man who completes me in a way I never knew was possible.

As I start my 13 day “celebration” towards one of my biggest milestones (my 40th birthday) I also reach a very important one in my professional and blogging career.

I became an Active Rain Rainmaker in December 2010, but didn’t truly dive into and embrace Active Rain until February 2011. At that time, I was sitting at a mere 8000 points.

Yesterday I crested the 100k mark.

That’s over 90,000 blogging, commenting and invite points in 5 short months. That’s an enormous accomplishment in my opinion and one that I didn’t make without learning a few things.

How to Accomplish Your Active Rain Goals

  1. You’ve Got to Have “a Little Help from Your Friends!”

There is no way I could have made it without my Active Rain friends.  Those friends that have been my encouragers, cheerleaders and source of support on days when the desire to blog was waning.   You know who you are and I am grateful to each and every one of you!!

  2. It’s a Community Dummy – Get Involved!

- Comment on Posts

Active Rain offers you the ability to comment on up to 10 posts per day and earn 25 points per comment.  It’s a brilliant tactic to get us active within the community and for me, it worked!

- ReBlog & Promote Your Friends in the Rain

You are able to reblog a post up to 10 times per week at 25 points each.  Reblog love is the absolute biggest compliment a Blogger can receive and a fantastic way to assist in passing along a great article to a whole new audience.

- Connect with Friends Outside of Active Rain

I love the ability to not only connect on Active Rain, but get to know my friends on Facebook, Twitter and of course – IRL (in real life)  There’s nothing better than creating friendships that grow beyond the walls of Active Rain and become true friendships that extend into all areas of our lives.

 3. Consistency is the Key in Life and Blogging

When I first became a Rainmaker, the thought of blogging several times per week was overwhelming.  I had no idea what to write about or where I would find the time.  When the 31 Days of May Challenge came along, I knew I had to take it.  I became determined to create a plan, map out my goals and most of all – to embrace blogging as a pillar of my business.  Needless to say, I now blog every day and have enough ideas for a years’ worth of blogs.

So at 39 years young and 352 days, I sit in awe of all that life and the amazing group of friends I’ve made on Active Rain continue to teach me.  I am settled, satisfied and  truly blessed by my “new” family, a husband that would set the world on fire for me and a son who even as he meets a milestone of his own still enjoys ‘hanging’ with his old mom.

Next Stop??  200,000 Points!  Bring..It…On!!!
