What is your "possibility"

I'm a playoff fan of major league baseball. So I'll never claim that I'm a die hard fan. But the recent success of the Colorado Rockies has been fascinating to me.  Not more then a few weeks ago the Rockies playoff hopes were about gone.  But starting about 30 days ago, Colorado has won 20 of 21 games, which is unheard of according to most major league baseball fans!  Each game leading to the playoffs could have been their last one.  They had to play San Diego in the "play in game", which they one by one in the 13th inning!  Now they've swept through the Phillies, and look to sweep Arizona in the next few days.  Even if Colorado finishes short of winning it all, the Colorado Rockies run in 2007 could be looked at one of the greatest runs in baseball history.

How are they doing it?  The canned answer is they play one game at a time. But I know one thing they're not doing, and that's believing the season is over.  If they for once had thought that during that two week incredible run at the end of the season, then they would be watching the playoffs instead of rocking through them.

Here is a prime example of how sports relate to life. We like the Rockies have had an incredible run in the mortgage and real estate industry. Recently we've gone through a slump.  The market's down, homes are not selling, the phones are not ringing, bills are piling up, everything seems depressing.  So how do some ignore the negativity and manage to pull out victory.

I think it's mostly in the mind.  The teams that the Rockies are playing and beating have no less talent, they're no less capable of winning.  The Rockies are playing on another level, one that has been created by their mind.  They have entered that focus or mind set that it's not possible to lose.  They believe 100% in the possibility that they can achieve the impossible.  Will that win them the World Series ?  Time will tell...but the fact remains that they've mastered something that we all need to wrap our minds around, and that's the fact that we all can achieve what's impossible if we simple believe in possibility.

Possibility only exists if we can leave the distractions of what's happened in the past.  It can only exist if we can move past that phrase that we often overuse.  "Reality" is only the possibility that we create in our mind!   So if someone wants to tell you to "face reality", you need to ask them, "which one?...yours or mine!"

So drop "what is reality", and focus on "what is possible"...... and one more thing...GO ROCKIES!!!

I live in Colorado and work in Colorado and I love Colorado, but Boston is going to win the big one. It will be nice to see the Rockies almost win, though... If they are almost going to win to anyone, it should be to the GREAT BOSTON RED SOX!!!

Hey Karl, the possibility i've invented for myself and my life is the possibility of being an outrageous provider and being extremely generous while making a difference for those around me. I'm working on a wild SELP project which I'll be sharing more about when I get it all put on paper between now and thursday, my next classroom. thanks for this post.

Karl:   Great way to relate the business to the sports world.  It's all about one game (and one client) at a time!  I'm with Lania though!  Go Sox!!!  See you in the World Series!!!

Karl,

Great post about the Rockies. It caught my eye because I actually just moved from Denver last month. What a great city. I too love the Rockies, and I hope to see them finally do well. I know there is a lot of hype about the slow real estate market, and like everyone else I wish it was booming. I have to say though, you are right...anything is possible. I started a home inspection business in Denver during the HUGE slump that started out there 3 years ago. They currently have the highest foreclosure rate in the country. I have to say though, I built a VERY successful business out there, while other inspectors were falling by the way side. I woke up everyday and asked myself, "What can I do to better my life and my busness today?" I spent every day for years trying to improve and better myself. It pays off! Now after all my success I found myself moving my business here to Utah for family reasons. Money is not everything, and I really wanted my small children to be around their extended family which are all here in Utah. My wife and I grew up here, and have always wanted to come back. My point is that here I am again....building the business all over again, and my trials and experiences have made me stronger. I am very optimistic that my company will once again be very successful. Utah is full of great people, and I am excited to get the opportunity to work everyone here. I love being back home in Utah, but I do miss Denver and the Rockies!!

Be the best you know how to, and spend every day finding ways to be better...you will not fail. Spend less time asking God for more, and more time thanking him for what you have. Rather you will find yourself on top, when everyone around you is falling down! Too many people waste their time trying to cut the other guy down, rather than build themselves stronger.

My best team of MLB is The Colorado Rockies . This why I always fallow their games especially whenever I have some time. I’m always trying not o miss any of their game and hear about the team’s news. But The Colorado Rockies tickets get more pricy especially when there are some hot games. But, if we’re really good fans we should try not to be mean when we’re talking about a favourite teams. It’s not only the Rockies tickets that got pricy, but there are other major teams too, so the team needs our support and we should provide as much as we can.
