15 Comments on Speechless Sunday (almost!): Eggsactly as plant!
Hi Wanda, My wife dips them and then into the oven for a nutritious meal ! Having some for lunch.
My wise old grandmother used to grow eggplants in Texas. I was enamored of their flowers but when MWOG made some fried eggplant and some eggplant gumbo, well, she learned never to try to make me eat all my food again. Certain so-called edible plants just don’t go anywhere near my mouth!
Wow not only delicious they are beautiful too.

You also take such great picture. I hope it taste as good as it looks. Happy Fourth of july.
Wanda.. This is a first for me. I've never seen an *Eggplant* plant before. You truly do learn a lot of different things here on ActiveRain.
Bill, That sounds like a great treat!
Russel, Not everyone likes to eat it but I do agree the blooms are quite beautiful!
Kelly, Agreed! Thanks for stopping by!
Gene, Thank you! The blooms are on the small size of a silver dollar. Happy Fourth to you and your family as well!
Valerie, I had never seen the blooms before either, was lucky to catch them!
Wanda,
I hope you have better luck than me this year. Something ate all of the baby eggplants already. As an Italian, I was so looking forward to growing my own.
Rich
Wanda,
This is the very first time I heard about this or saw the plant. It's a terrific looking plant! I'm so glad you posted it. I've never seen it sold in the nurseries or in gardens either. I'm so lucky to learn something new today, just because of you!
Oh no Rich! If you were closer, we'd be glad to share some with you!
Patricia, I am glad you enjoyed the post and love to share!
So that's what an Eggplant blossom looks like. They're quite pretty aren't they! They almost look like a Passion Flower.
I have grown eggplant in the past, and thanks to your reminder, might grow it in the future...
Myrl, I just looked up passion flower blooms, they are quite beautiful.
Chris, Glad to help!
I have never seen an actually eggPLANT before, although I have eaten the fruit and love it baked!
THe blooms are unusually pretty Barbara-Jo! I had to get real low to get a photo because the blooms are pointing down toward the ground.
But, even with what it creates at this stage it sure is a pretty plant.
