Does Your Dog or Cat have a Pet Licence?

The Town of Markham requires that dogs and cats older than three (3)  months must be licensed annually with Markham in accordance iwth By-law 2005-254.

Markham has a webpage at

which explains the licensing requirements in more detail, including costs and where to obtain the pet license.

If you own an an unlicensed pet, you are subject to a $100 fine.

Wow....another way for the city/county to get revenue, I guess. I make sure my dog has rabies shots, which I think is way more important. :)

I think the purpose is partly to raise money and also to help return lost pets to their owners.  I have read that some municipalities only break even on licenses.
