A Super Neighbor

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Mountain Partners

Sometimes you just get lucky and get a super neighbor.  I just returned from a three day trip to Madison, Wisconsin to help my daughter build a deck in her backyard.  Amy told me she had all the tools we needed.  Since I was flying in, I brought no tools.

What tools Amy did not have, her neighbor ,Lou had.  Lou is retired.  He goes fishing every day.  He knows a lot of stuff.  We worked hard for three days.  Amy worked.  Julie worked.  I worked and Lou worked.  Lou did not have to work but he did.  Lou did not have to have a good attitude but he did.

If you have never laid out a deck, you have missed one of life's great stress producers.  It looks easy but it is not.  Lou was a big help.  When we cut the two by eight joists for the deck, Lou brought over his Milwaukee skill saw and cut all twenty two of those joists.  At the end of the day,we were all dripping in sweat.  We were all exhausted.

Lou is a super neighbor.  Amy says he has taught her a lot.  I feel good knowing that my daughter lives next door to Lou.  Check out the neighbors on your listing.  Maybe, they are the best feature of the house.  Lou is.

It is nice to have helpful neighbors that either help like Lou does or just to watch over the house when your gone.

Hi Ron.   I agree.  Good neighbors are what makes a great neighborhood.   It is comforting knowing that a loved one has someone close to count on in your absence.     Happy 4th!

Ron - I have neighbors just like Lou. Lawns and snow are done by surprise. Next door neighbor often seems to enquire ahead of time. Probably my hardest lesson ~ learning to accept help. Thanks for your thoughtful story.

If you would like to see a picture of this deck(you can build one too), check it on my facebook page.  I reckon I need to learn how to add those widgets. I am in learning overload.
