With guilt feelings I drove down a road that says, "No through traffic. Private property," but I suspected that since Yarnell's Ice Cream in Searcy Arkansas had shut down they'd have no one to arrest me for driving down the closed off street in Searcy AR.
I snapped pictures. They keep saying that we'll miss the ice cream and that's no lie but we'll also miss the gaily painted trucks. Look at the trucks behind the gates that have been locked.
How sad to see all the trucks grounded.
I loved the painted trucks. Then there were the buildings. One old building in particular caught my eye. I snapped the picture, brought it home and hubby, who grew up here, said that the building was the old Mule Barn owned by Haus? Owens. The Owens Mule Barn would date back to probably the beginning of the Yarnell's dynasty which was around 1932.
The building does look mighty old. There's the old tin roof, and some sort of roof that would let the air in. So for the Searcy Sleuths, solve this mystery. Is this an old mule barn right in the middle of the modern Yarnell's Ice Cream complex? If you know anything about it, tell us.
And, yes, it is sad to see a dynasty go down overnight. Searcy will miss Yarnell's Premium Ice Cream.
