Celebrating The United States Of America's Independence Day- With Hope For The Future
All that Katerina Gasset of Florida says below about the Declaration of Independence is wonderful.
But the most important part of the Declaration is found not in the middle nor at the top.
The most important part of the document is found at the bottom/end of the manuscript where 56 brave men signed their names - right below the words "we mutally pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor".
Their Commitment. Their Action. Their Deeds.
That's what we should be celebrating.
And duplicating.
Our country, the United States of America has been celebrating the Fourth of July for over 200 years now. This has always been one of our favorite holidays. As adults we think about our founders and the sacrifices they made to give us our great Constitution. The children love this holiday because of the fireworks and parades.
But this year it was hard to get into the spirit of celebrating the founding of our independence and liberty as it is being torn apart before our eyes.When Time magazine's Fourth of July's issue shows an image of our Constitution on the cover of their magazine with it shredded at the bottom and the words, "Does It Still Matter?" it causes one to wonder what are we celebrating? I wanted to pick up the copy of the magazine to read what Time says about this but then I said , NO, I will not contribute a penny to them for this disregard and disrespect of our founders's document.As I contemplated all of this, rather sick to my stomach I realized there is still hope. I picked myself up and took out the Constitution and read it over and over again.Today I am celebrating hope and faith that our Founders' dreams will live on, that the spirit of Americans will spark the movement to take back our liberties that have been stripped from us and we will restore our country, taking it out of being legislated from the bench and executive branches of the government and back to the representatives of our people.On July 4, 1776 our founders told the King of England that the colonies would no longer be subject to their taxation without representation, commerce laws that stifled the colonies and forcing allegiance to laws contrary to free will." ... that ALL men are created equal, that they are ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED, That whenever any form of government becomes DESTRUCTIVE of these ends, it is the RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. "This section of the Constitution is so important. The Founders believed that all men were created equal and this caused great strife among the southern states where there was slavery because the majority of the founders did not believe in slavery yet the country was founded on states' rights over Federal rights.After the Civil War, the United States of America came very close to being a nation that respected the rights of the individual. Men were essentially free to live their own lives with their own judgment. We were the land of liberty.So today I am not celebrating the Fourth of July for the America we have become today. I am not celebrating the rights- violating, speech limiting, religion stripping, welfare nanny state we have become but rather I am celebrating the hope and faith and dream that we will get back to the days where individuals had their rights to be who they wanted to be, do what they wanted to do and live how they wanted to live as long as they did not physically hurt another person.We are celebrating the fact that ALL men have unalienable rights. We are celebrating the the government was set up "to secure these rights". We celebrate the constitution that says that when these things are no longer happening that we as a people have the right to change that.We celebrate the freedom that with faith, hope and an awakening of the hearts and minds of those who have been laying dormant stuck in reality tv shows and other forms of entertainment designed to distract the masses and those who have been living with their heads in the sand- once this giant is fully awakened I believe that LIBERTY will prevail.Happy Fourth of July!Copyright© 2011 By Katerina Gasset- ALL Rights Reserved- Celebrating The United States of America's Independence Day- With Hope For the Future.
