I realize it is not the Kentucky Derby; however, many in NASCAR and NASCAR fans have wanted this race for YEARS!   Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky is going BIG TIME!

As attendance dwindled in the West at Fontana, the demand for more races on the Right Coast has gained so Saturday Night * Under the Lights * will be the first Sprint Cup race.  The Camping World Truck Series will run on Thursday at 8P and the Nationwide Series cars will run Friday night at 7:30P.....then the McDaddy Cup cars will race on Saturday at 7:30P. 

The truck race can be seen on SPEED, the Nationwide race will be on ESPN and the Cup race will be on TNT.

The track will host another Camping World Truck race on October 1st and then 2 Indy Car races on the 2nd of October.

The track is owned by NASCAR mega-track owner Bruton Smith's Speedway Motorsports, Inc. and it is a 1.5 mile track similar to the Kansas track.  The seating capacity has been expanded from 66,000 to 107,000 and pit road was reconfigured. 

In addition to the Kentucky track, Smith's group owns the Atlanta, Bristol, Charlotte, Infineon, Las Vegas, New Hampshire and Texas Motor Speedway tracks in addition to the INfamous North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina.

This will be interesting to see.  This has been a great season for racing, in my opinion.  I think the changes NASCAR made this year (in both the points system and the "have at it boys") has made a HUGE difference.  What do you think, Wallace?

Heather * I'm waiting for Saturday night.  The Cup race is SOLD OUT!  I like that WINNING get's more points.  I think that is important!
