And the winner of the ROCKING HOT pair of combat boots is..........................drum roll............

Oh - before I announce the winner - for you late comers - you ask WHAT WAS THE CONTEST?  Check out the link to my original challenge and blog here (which resulted in a FEATURED POST THANK YOU, ACTIVE RAIN!)

Here is a brief the outline of the contest which ended at 11:00 a.m CST today:

4TH OF JULY EXCLUSIVE TO MEMBERS OF ACTIVE RAIN

As a special way to honor our military and to get the word out in Active Rain about the   Boot Campaign, a non-profit organization seeking to help wounded warrioros, we would give away a pair of combat boots today at 11:00 CST.

All of your comments were simply wonderful honoring our troops and a SPECIAL thanks to all who participated - AR AND AR MEMBERS ARE AWESOME!

Oh, and the rules changed in the contest!  You say - DON'T CHANGE THE RULES!  Well, here is the rule change.  Instead of ONE WINNER - there are TWO WINNERS TODAY - both are true patriots!  BUT all comments and re-blogs were appreciated.

First place and the winner of a pair of combat boots is TISH LLOYD of Wrightsville Beach, NC!  She had a total of 9 comments on her re-blog (check out comments to her re-blog here) , and two comments on my original blog.  Below is Tish's comment to the post:

"This has to be one of the neatest things I've ever seen on AR.  All of
our military have my thanks for their service and sacrifice, but our
wounded warriors are near and dear to my heart and the sacrifices they
and their families have made, and the ways in which they "march on" are a
testament to the American Spirit.  They deserve our gratitude, a
helping hand when needed and our undying respect."

And second place goes to Cindy Jones - Northern Virginia Real Estate and Military Relocation Services!  She had a total of 7 comments (check out the comments here to her re-blog).  Her comment is below:

"Our military and their families deserve our heartfelt thanks and
appreciation everyday.  It isn't about honoring them once or twice a
year but remember the sacrifices every day.   It's a simple as a lending a
hand with a chore for a military family left behind, working with a
local organization to send boxes to the troops or remembering to say
thank-you when you see a man or woman in uniform. Thanks for posting
this information."

Once again - thanks ACTIVE RAIN for the FEATURED POST - and the TREMENDOUS response from AR members for a "SHOUT OUT" to our troops

How exciting!  I didn't re-blog it in hopes of winning, I just wanted to help spread the word.

Do you have a local charity you could donate the boots to in honor and rememberance of my husband, Frank Lloyd, who proudly served 2 tours in Vietnam?  Not that I wouldn't wear them with great pride and lots of sass, but I bet you have a local shelter who could give the boots to a homeless Veteran.  I'd feel better if someone who could really use them had them.

Thanks for all you're doing to help our military and their families.  I know first-hand how much it means to them.

Louise-my response was going to be the same as Tish's.  Is there a way to denote the boots?  Mine donation would be in the rememberance of my husband William Jones who died on Active Duty in the Middle East.  I would wear them with pride but also know that I am fortunate to be able to afford a new pair of shoes and there are those who can't.  Just let me know and thanks for bringing this terrific program to my attention.

What incredible class Tish & Cindy not only have, but share with the rest of us.  How'd I know Tish was going to ask that the boots be donated?  Because I know her and I know how sincere she is in her respect and appreciation of our Military.

Cindy -- I'm sorry for the loss of your husband and I thank you and your family for your service and sacrifice.

Louise -- Thanks for bringing this organization to our attention.  You can be sure I'll be telling others!

How could I have ever known that the two "winners" of the boots -  Cindy and Tish - both lost their husbands to war?

Thank both of you ladies for your graciousness - and I am so sorry for your loss.

I appreciate your passion to serve not only those who serve - but the wounded.

My oldest daughter teaches with a young lady with 3 small children - whose husband was just deployed to Iraq.  How aboutr this?  In honor of your husbands, I give the boots to this young mother and her boys.  4 pair (they have children sizes also)

BUT I still want to send you BOTH a pair of boots - maybe just to put on your desk - maybe to "get your boots on" for Boot Fridays - whatever.  But it would be an honor for me to do this.  Something visible in your office for others to see.  And then you can tell them about the Boot Campaign.

Then you can "pay it back" (or forward) by purchasing a pair of boots for someone else...

I am in awe Louise - not only of your giving spirit but your willingness to jump in and help where it most counts.  Terrific idea and congratulations on a well deserved feature!

Cindy and Tish are amazing women.  So glad you could honor the memories of their husbands with your tribute!

Louise ~ I think that's a fine way to Pay it Back and I look forward to seeing a picture of those boys in their boots.

If you really want to send me a pair, could I get them in a size 13?  My Grandson has a friend who has been deployed and I know he would wear them with great pride.  See my post, A Young Man's Tribute to his friend . . .

Thank you!

Louise-if you send them in a size 8 I'll certainly use them to promote the program among my clients, many who are military.
