No, Nikesh, Kerrie and Bob will not be arriving in Los Angeles for RainCamp as a giant umbrella, galoshes and raincoat and then transforming before your eyes into our perky selfs. RainCamp's transformation is going to allow all members of ActiveRain to join in the fun.

From Portland Maine to Portland Oregon, from Blaine Washington to Blaine Minnesota, from Denver Colorado to Denver North Carolina, ActiveRain members across North America will have a chance to join us for the first Raincamp online. No one will be left out.

As you all know, RainCamps have been one of the highlights of ActiveRain as we had the ability to meet our members face-to-face while leaving them with the education necessary to survive in today's market.

When we first started RainCamp it was for the purpose of community engagement, education and sharing.  We've traveled the country far and wide and hopefully touched a few people along the way.  Behind the scenes, many of us were dedicating a lot of time and effort to make these events go off without a hitch. At the height of our attendance, we were reaching up to 400 people at a time. More recently, attendance has dropped off a bit and we decided now was as good a time as any to make the move to hosting Raincamp online. You have been asking for Raincamps closer to you, and we couldn't think of a better way than to bring it to you in your office, at your desk, or on your couch (but only if you have potato chips and a coke nearby).

ActiveRain is an on-line network and we have the ability to reach thousands....so why were we putting so much of our time into touching such a small amount of our network?  Many asked if RainCamp was taped or had transcripts to study as they wanted in but couldn't travel. We knew there was a way we could touch more of our members and with that we have foregone all future physical RainCamps.

Now don't get upset....we wouldn't leave you high and dry (and the reality is, most of you reading this weren't able to physically attend a Raincamp because they were too far).  Because of the 200K+ genius minds on this network, ActiveRain has become the go-to place for real estate education, training and sharing. You've been doing it amongst yourselves long before ActiveRain University.

ActiveRain University (ARU) has become our leading form of education to new and older members.  Our live webinars are held daily covering all aspects of ActiveRain.  With it's success we have come to the conclusion that this is how we will reach our mass audience in lieu of one-day trips to cities around the country.

In addition to expanding the ARU schedule, RainCamp will be set up online for all to share in. We will be bringing in speakers from all across the country for a day of great education, entertainment and the chance to learn marketing secrets from some of the best in the business. Stay tuned for our upcoming announcement at the beginning of next week about the dates and some of the faces for Raincamp online.

And because getting to meet your ActiveRain friends in person is just as big a part of RainCamps (for us and hopefully for you as well) as the learning, we will also be coordinating local MeetUps the same week as RainCamp online. These MeetUps will give people in your area a chance to get together and network with other ActiveRain members. Interested in being a part of your local MeetUp? We'll be bringing you the details on that soon as well.

This is not the end but rather the beginning of something great.

Kerrie, while I am disappointed we won't be gathering in Orlando again this year, so many more people will be able to participate. How can I complain about that? :)

Hi Kerrie, (or whomever writes this)

Great idea!

Live is terrific. Make sure after the event the sessions are available 24/7 for the members.

My active rain hour is in the middle of the night, like right now.

Thanks

Phil

I for one did not see much value in RainCamp (but a lot of hype). I would not go to another one anyway, so visiting it online is a potential for it being less hype, and more substance.

When you sit in a group of 300 people adn all have to listen to the same thing, the value of a meet-up was much higher than the value of presentations.

In an on-line format it is quite possible to allow people choice what to attend and who to listen to. And that's a plus.

Debbie had the same question I have.  When is the online Rain camp?  I kinda wondered when the Rain Camp button disappeared, what was happening.  I knew Ben Kinney and Bob Stuart  wouldn't wait around for me forever.

Smart move to take this online. This will make the content much more accessible to a wider group of members, as well as delivering it at minimal cost.

I LOVE this idea! Please let me know how I can be involved in helping to organize a meet-up in Massachusetts! Btw, it would be great to offer Meet Ups in more than one location in the state. For example, holding everything in Boston just because it's our capitol isn't really convenient for people who  live outside the Route 128 beltway, or further west and south. How about asking AR members to help identify areas of their state that might divide it into manageable areas for the Meet Ups. You could choose to go to any and all Meet Ups, or just the one(s) that are closest to you. Where I live, a local Meet Up might even include people along the RI/MA border.

I am so thankful I was able to attend 4 RainCamps - Scottsdale, San Diego, New Orleans (NAR) and Atlantic City.  Each was so different and all were great.  I love that you will be able to reach and share with so many more people now by taking it online but I will miss the in person sessions and do so hope you will have at least a once a year RainCamp and preferably during the NAR Realtor Convention like you did last year.  I guess the tee shirts will now become collectibles. LOL

Ha, we never would have seen this if not for the post about the new meet-ups! We never got to attend a Raincamp in person, so this is the next best thing. Great idea!

Kerrie, I got just one gripe about the collage above, you cropped me out.  Now why would you go and do such a thing like that?  After we got along so well at Tornado Camp in Dallas and the happy hour event afterwards. :0) I'm in that picture standing beside Deb Brooks, Teral, Marilyn, Marvin, and his partner.  Just realized that after review your post about meetups....BTW, I'm interested in hosting a meetup for Northeast Tarrant County.

This is exciting! I have been one of those who had not been able to travel to or attend a meeting near me for what ever reason at the time.

BUT I hope that you guys will host RainCamps every two to three years (in some of the larger cities) to help with the traveling thing for you AR employees and your families.

I still want to attend a RainCamp some day... but if you could offer one every few years that would be great.

John - You caught me!!!  The pic looked weird because it wouldn't quite fit so a little cropping was necessary.  Don't hate me!  :)  Thanks for volunteering to host a MeetUp too!

mixed feelings.  for 1 I had already made arrangements to be in LA - and delay taking so to Texas for college.  too late to rearrange air fare.

2) having attended a rain camp and also some 'online barcamps"  OnLine is great but it does not compare to meeting people face to face.

3) one thing I love about rain camp is the "hallway" conversations - these don't happen online.

Seems like cost cutting measures, and more changes will be coming.... I'm holding out further opions until we see how it goes.
