The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce in Fairfield, Connecticut
I recently joined the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce http://www.fairfieldctchamber.com/ here in my hometown of Fairfield, CT http://www.fairfieldct.org/ .
This is the first time that I am joining the chamber and I truly wish that I joined sooner. I actually signed up my whole Countrywide Home Loans Southport office with the chamber at a very low membership fee. Although 95% of my business is referral business I still think it is important to get yourself out there in front of the people of your town and build a name for yourself in the public eye. Just by telling your family/friends and your business partners what you do is not enough. Just by advertising on the internet and in local newspapers is not enough. This was a personal decision that I made because I know that I am a big time people's person and I will be a great asset to the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. I also believe that I will benefit from joining the chamber.

Networking: Expand your business through contacts at Chamber events. Chamber member firms host informal monthly Business After Hours gatherings, where businesses come together to exchange ideas, create working relationships, and network.
Referrals: Benefit from the hundreds of referrals made from the Chamber office. You can be going about your regular day when you receive a call from the Chamber with a referral of someone new moving into town. How great is that? It is super if you ask me.
Business Expos: Exhibit your products and services and expand your client base at the Super Business Expo in Norwalk and the Business Showcase in Fairfield; two annual business expos held jointly with other area chambers.
Advertise: Marketing and Advertising, my middle name! Increase your business's name recognition through Chamber publications:

There are currently 26 lenders that are a part of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and in the membership directory I am currently listed in the #3 position because it is alphabetized.
