Last month I was invited to do a panel interview on a local Cable TV show called 'Be Scene on Air'. The show is a weekly show on Community Accessvision TV in Battle Creek, Michigan. The CEO of the Battle Creek Area Association of REALTORS® Kathy Perritt, Bill Hanner, the President-Elect for 2012, and myself as President of the Board in 2011 were invited to the show to talk about the local Real Estate market.
It was a fun experience, and the first time I had ever done a show of this sort with a panel discussion. I can tell you it helped to have some personal video experience with creating my own videos for my YouTube channel. I was able to draw from this personal experience of sitting on both sides of the camera, as well as having editing experience with what looks good and comes across as a good presentation.
We had some general notes to follow, and a rough outline of the questions and topics of discussion, but no real rehearsal on what we were going to say. I can tell you that it helps to have some public speaking experience, and also a good working familiarity with your own subject matter. Being a local Realtor that is active in the market has made it possible to talk to anyone about the subject.
I found it very comfortable doing this because of this public speaking and video experience background. I have included the video below. The show is 1 hour long. The portion of the panel where we spoke is about halfway through, so if you do not want to watch the first portion, just forward through to the middle and you will be able to watch the interview. The show aired on Monday, July 4th, 2011 and is available on the website: www.accessvision.tv as well.
