Good afternoon, BLiz. I like fairs. Looks like yours is going to be cool event. Have fun...
Michael, It'll be an EXTREMELY busy few days at the fairgrounds! There's people working all year to get their animals ready for the competitions :)
Aren't fairs the best? I love a good demolition derby, wish we could be there!
County Fairs are a fun event for families. Yours sounds like it has all the right stuff.
State fairs are a hoot!
CA, And TWO nights of back to back demolition derbies :) I suspect there will be a LOT of scrap metal after those events!
Cindy, ALL the classic elements of a typical country fair here!
Andy, Those horses are nicely decked out :)
Hi Liz & Bill - Country fairs are so American in their presentation. It is refreshing to go back to the "earthy stuff". Demolition derby's appeal to our sense of adventure. Enjoy.
Conrad, This one is typical Midwest Americana all the way through :)
I love going to fairs! I'm a big fan of the animals and love all the yummy treats too.
Liz and Bill I have not been to a Fair in Decades, sounds like a lot of fun I have been missing out:))
Anita, Then you'd love this one! I'm betting a wide variety of deep fried treats available at this one :)
Endre, It's been quite awhile since I've been too....maybe time to change that!
Many folks know no more of a county fair than the sign on the road that says "County Fairgrounds".
County fairs across the country are a major event, especially for 4H youngsters.
Lenn, Used to go to them regularly growing up in Louisiana, and same thing there. The livestock competitions for the 4-H kids is tremendous. We're a nice mix of suburban and rural here, so plenty of serious farming going on here that fuels the entries.
Bliz, sounds like a week full of fun. I'd have a hard time decicing which day to go. Maybe that weeklong pass is not such a bad idea afterall!
It looks like it's going to be a blast. I like how you keep the community informed. How do you get all of the pretty pictures in your blog?
Leah, That weeklong pass definitely might be the option for those interested in all the contests and specialty events!
Janet, Judi Barrett mentioned a free photo site called www.morguefile.com that is populated with tons of great photos. Another site we use is http://commons.wikimedia.org (on this site, keep an eye out for free use or attribution required). That's assuming we don't have our own pictures that we've taken already. All four for this post are from www.morguefile.com.
This sounds like so much fun! I wanna go... oh, wait... it's in Ohio. Okay, too far.
Margaret, It would be a wee bit of a drive for you, about 9 hours or so :)
Hi Liz and Bill! I love small town county fairs! I miss the one in Newton, Kansas (Harvey County) where I grew up. Your post takes me home!
Cari, I think a county fair is probably much the same for all of us, maybe just a little variety in the livestock types is all! Used to go a ton as a kid :)
