Pinehurst Performing Arts Center

Recently articles have been written along with brochures handed out and guest speakers at events talking about the Pinehurst Performing Arts Center.

As I drive around Pinehurst showing homes and read articles to keep up with the changes in our area I had not until recently heard or seen the Pinehurst Performing Arts Center.  It was first brought to my attention from a  brochure for the Pinehurst Summer Pop series presented by the Arts Center and the Carolina Philharmonic. This piqued my curiosity.  Within a few days the founder of these two projects was giving a speech about this endeavor at the Realtor Association's monthly luncheon. And not long after that there was an article in the paper about presenting the idea of the Arts Center to the Village of Pinehurst's town council. The council appeared to very open to the idea though no formal plans were presented or considered.

Currently there isn't as single location for the center or the philharmonic which explains why I hadn't seen it. But there is the vision for a 2,200 state of the art performance and cultural center to host the Carolina Philharmonic among other shows, artists, opera and ballet. All of this is the work of  David Michael Wolf and he has already shown progress by putting together the summer pop series as well as gathering a host of volunteers who would also like to see his vision for the arts brought here to Pinehurst. The work of this organization is already bringing cultural events to the Pinehurst area and it will be an added benefit to the entire community to have the 2,200 seat location to host the Philharmonic and other performances. Here are a couple of performances scheduled in the area this summer:

Monday, July 18 at 7PM - Chopin in Paris - chamber music at the Owen's Auditorium at Sandhills Community College off Airport Rd. Call 910-687-0287 for ticket information.
