Things We Learn from Our Dogs

DogA friend of mine just lost the family pet he had for 15 years, I thought I would remind him of all the wisdom we gain from our pets.

  1. Here are things we learn from our dogs
  2. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
  3. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
  4. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
  5. When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
  6. Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
  7. Take naps and stretch before rising.
  8. Run, romp and play daily.
  9. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
  10. Be loyal.
  11. Never pretend to be something you're not.
  12. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
  13. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
  14. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
  15. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
  16. On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.
  17. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
  18. No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.
  19. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Dog is God spelled backwards and God put dogs here to show his undying love and devotion.

God put cats here to remind us we are not god.

Dogs think of us as family, Cats think of us as servants.

Great post Scott... As lovers of dogs (we have two flat  coated retrievers) we totally understand.

We recently read "INSIDE OF A DOG" What Dogs See, Smell, and Know by Alexandra Horowitz.  Very interesting read, but very disheartening for those of us who like to give human traits to canine behavior.

Those are great, Scott!  Our pets can definitely be some of our greatest motivators!  Have a great day!

As a dog owner and lover, many of the list items reminded me of my Maltese, 'Alfie'.   I really enjoyed this post and will re-blog it to my audience.  Thanks, Scott!
