Insurance and your escrow close...

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Costello & Sons

Hi Active rain friends,

I am writing to see if anyone has a good, bad or ugly story they can share with me regarding Insurance and your escrow closings.

I know this maybe an odd way to start out my "blog career" but I figure if I ask the questions and get responses I will figure out what to write about that will add value to you. If no one replies I will be forced to blog about what I think it is important for you to know and that may not be as helpful as I would like it to be.

I found out about this website from a Ginger Wilcox a real estate agent in Marin county and I love the idea. I have since passed it on to two of my counterparts in Orange county and Sacramento county and they have begun bloging their hearts out sharing facts about Umbrella policies and what to do in the event of an auto accident which are all great but the approach I haver always taken is to ask what people want to know about then work from there.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Adrianne,

I hope you enjoy your ActiveRain adventure! It definitely will be one in no time. The friends, the value, the knowledge that you gain is priceless! I look forward to reading your blog and what you can share with us as business owners and the benefits of having great insurance policies. I have a few stories that I have and they aren't too positive so I think I will keep them to myself!! I understand the position my insurance company was in to make their final decision to drop part of my policy but it still hurt!! Welcome to the rain and be sure to blog, blog, blog!! Greetings from Arizona

Welcome to AR!  Have fun.  You will find myriad posts to inspire and educate you.  Regarding insurance, I did a post on CLUE reports and got a good response.  You might write about new issues in insurance.  Enjoy!

Ideas for blogs that I would be interested in: umbrella policies, what to look for when comparing insurance plans, jewelry coverage, why to get your insurance at the beginning of a transaction, common pitfalls with insurance that cause homes to fall out of escrow.

To be quite honest I don't have any....don't really know much about the Insurance aspect....oops yes I do.  In Whitewater (92282) many Insurance Companies just don't get it.  They appear to use some antiquated "how close to a fire department" rule to issue Insurance.  We have learned to just keep calling other people......but it is frustrating.

Welcome, and I look forward to seeing anthing on Insurance in the Desert Areas of So. Cal.  even basic info on how you approve or deny that I can show my clients is good.

Adrienne,

I think the biggest thing we see as a problem in Big Bear is the insurance co. requiring a earthquake gas shut off valve. These are great in mild climate, but in our area if your gas shuts off and you loose heat you might end up with a flooded house. Some of the valves a very sensitive and can shut off from a small quake or even a pine cone landing on them from a nearby tree. We have mostly vacant second homes and the damage created by a pipe breaking will cost a small fortune.
