1718 Lincoln StThere  Oregon Bach FestivalOregon Country FairThere is not a single weekend that I want to schedule an open house where there isn't something going on that I can rationalize will kill my chances of having anyone show up.

Let's take today, July 10th, 2011 here in little old Eugene, OR.  This is just a small list of the events that I have to compete with today as I have my amazing Craftsman Style Architecture home at 1718 Lincoln open!

  1. The Oregon Country Fair is in full swing- Every hippie and ex hippie are at the fair, celebrated world wide by the way, and will not be coming to my open house.
  2. The Oregon Bach Festival is ongoing- Every non hippie will be at this event, celebrated world wide by the way, and will not be at my open house.
  3. The 15th Annual Cascades Cream Puff Race, a 100 mile bike race through the Central Cascades- Though not celebrated world wide, probably won't get a single one of the cyclists through my open house.
  4. The Eugene Emeralds, our minor league professional baseball team, plays today at 1:05pm so I won't see a single baseball fan at my open house.
  5. Satin Love Summer Concert is going on all day today- Won't see a single Satin Love fan at my open house.
  6. And on, and on, and on...

These are all big events to the folks going to them, and yes it does take some bodies out of the offing for going to open houses.  So...who can I expect to come to my open house?

Probably only the people looking to buy a home in the near future. 

GUESS I'LL HAVE AN OPEN HOUSE AFTER ALL.  WISH ME LUCK!

That's why we enjoy living here, especially during the summer!  How about everyone outside gardening, biking or jogging along the riverbank, sailing on Fern Ridge, headed to the Oregon Coast, camping in the Cascades ...?  Beware of scheduling an open house when the Oregon Ducks have a football game scheduled too!  How is a Realtor supposed to sell anything around here?

Glad you had a great open house Colin. There is always something though yuh? Good weather people are out at family picnics, bad weather they are holed up inside. :)
