Okay I admit, this was all nonsense to me not too long ago. But with an open mind, I started taking some beginner's yoga classes and these are now quite familiar to me now. I am already noticing the benefits of yoga, and would at least suggest that you give it a try yourself.

Trust me I still feel a little awkward while in the room but the abilities of those there range from beginner to "queen yoga". It is not a competition, people are very supportive, we all have our own pace. My biggest fear was overcome when I walked ino the room with an open mind.

The benefits of yoga are many, here are a few.

  • Flexibility
  • Strength
  • Mental Calmness
  • Muscle tone
  • Stress Reduction
  • Better Breathing
  • Pain Prevention
  • Body Awareness
  • Increasing lubrication of the joints, ligaments and tendons
  • Massaging of ALL Organs of the Body
  • Complete Detoxification

Maybe these benefits are something to consider. Yoga may be able to help you with acheiveing these benefits.

Tom - I'm a hardcore work out girl, but 6 years ago I started taking yoga. Wow was I in for a surprise - it's not as easy as it looks and now I take ashtanga yoga and love it when a big, strong guy can't hold a pose for 2 seconds because it's that hard. You have to have amazing core strength to do most of these positions. Ever try the crow for 1 minute- it's pretty cool and not easy to hold for that long - trust me, I know! oh, and try tree pose with eyes shut....

Tom, sometimes I attribute my youthfulness to downward dog......or yoga.  I do know the deep breathing helps me sleep at night.

Tom, those all sound familiar to me as my wife has done yoga occassionally here at the house.

Is this what you are doing, getting up at 3am on Tuesdays to win the Sharpest Tack?

Kristine - I know the feeling of muscles trembling to hold a position for what seems like minutes, when meer seconds have passed. Or gasping for air when I'm supposed to be control breathing. It's getting better though. Tree Pose + closed eyes = Tom falling.

Ron - I hear that it does help with sleep.

Jeremy - Yoga in a gym, praying on Tuesdays to be the Sharpest Tack.  :)

Tom....you amaze me.  Yoga?  Is there no challenge you won't take on??  I'll bet the best part of this is the number of hot babes in the class.  Good luck with that.

Doug, I can neither confirm, nor deny, the hot babes allegations.   :)

Jeremy, seems we can't do it enough.

Tom, I'm finding that to be the case, especially as a father of 4 and a small business owner.  But yet I think I can make it without it.  What's my problem!?!?  :)

HI TOM! What's the Downward Dog look like?  I'm afraid I would shake and tremble the entire class - but I keep telling myself I need to try it!  Keep us posted on your progress!

Yes, my EGO is my problem.  I think the Bible called it idolatry.  :)

That's why I have a gracious savior & God!
