You knew where you were the problem was I didn't know where you were.

I am a little miffed... to say the least!!!

Nine years ago I sold a townhouse to a couple, we have kept in touch and have become close. Six years ago the wife passed away, it was hard times for the husband, he finally decided to move on. He called me this past spring to sell his townhouse. We took the listing and were fortunate enough to sell it.

After the closing he moved to his summer home in Maine. His goal was to be in Florida come winter time. I gave his name and number to our relocation department so they could find him an agent in the area he was looking to buy in. Don't forget we have now closed on his home and he is ready, willing and able to buy.

About a week after our relocation department assigned the referral to a company in Florida, I decided to follow up with the agent that got the referral.

I knew he was headed down to Florida in about a week. I wanted to prepare the agent with some inside scoop about my client. I called the agent and was sent directly to voice mail, this was on a Friday. Well, now it was Tuesday and no return call. I called our relocation department to complain and I also called the company in Florida again and I spoke to their relo-manager and gave her an ear full.

I spoke with my client again and he said he had finally heard from the agent and was headed down to Florida soon. I figured he was all set and I went about my business and yesterday I emailed him to see how things were going and I asked him if he found anything he liked yet.

He emailed me back this morning and told me that he had indeed gone to Florida a couple of times and bought a place in Winter Haven on Lake Howard.

To my surprise he mentioned that the agent who our company had referred him to had given him her email address and he either wrote it down wrong or she told it to him wrong. When the email bounced back he phoned her and she never called him back.

That's why I am miffed.

1. They never returned my calls.

2. They didn't return my clients call.

3. I wish I had known about Active Rain before November 1st.

I would have referred him to one of you and I know he would have been treated with kid gloves.

At least we know who not to refer any buyers to!!!  What a shame though when people who trust you ...look to you for help..get that kind of service on the other end!

If I had only known you then. Oh well, when it's time for him to sell I'll make sure he calls "The Broker Bryant".

Thanks Jay

Hi Doug, No C21 is safe on this one. We used to be C21 from late 1997 until March 31, 2005. We left C21 mainly because my wife trains and the C21 office we had merged with were heading in another training direction my wife didn't think their new training program fit her style. Plus their market share is slipping in our marketplace. They have already shut down the office we left.

Sorry to ramble. Thanks Jay

Jay, most of the Relocation Companies that I have worked with are bad, not only do they not return phone calls, they send the documents at the very last minute. Every time I have a Loan that involves a Reloacation Company I know I am going to have to chase after them from the very beginning, and then pray for the best.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better I ask myself where AR was 10 years ago. Man, we could have used it then...TLW...ROAR!

Jay... it is unfortunate. Especially when you go out of your way to make it smooth for your client.

In regards to the name of the company, it shouldn't be mentioned. Just my opinion. Hey... like I have said in many comments.... it's not always the name of the company, who you work for etc etc... it's that agent or loan officer.

Thanks Jeff,

I shouldn't have mentioned who the company was but your right it's not the company it's the agent. Live and learn.

I did try and email you but Comcast says my IP address was picked up as spam. "sent in patterns which are characteristic of spam"

I had sent a bunch of notices out for one of Monika's classes she is teaching on the 13th and I wonder if that's why it bounced back. Oh well, you got to love technology.

Thanks Jay

I say if they did it then it's word of mouth bad publicity that they deserve; just my opinion!  Anyway Jay, that horrified me. I hadn't even thought about how wonderful it is that I don't have to refer out of our Rain Puddle.  Great but irritating story!

Thanks Carol, I was a little irritated to say the least. Hopefully he will sell in a few years and I'll stay in touch with him and we'll see what happens. Oh well.... NEXT!

Thanks Jay

When I used to work for traditional companies, that was generally the result of using their referral department - too little, too late. Now it's compounded by the referral department taking so large a share of the transaction that it's the less competent agents who take them. I've been very happy with a company that allows, no encourages, agent to agent referrals, so that you can have immediate results, and determine yourself if the agent is right for your client.

Hi Sharon,

That's why I tried to call the agent because I wanted to do just that. This was my first outbound referral with this company and I guess you can say Live and Learn.

Thanks Jay

Jay, I can relate as I've had experienced similar frustrations and disappointments when placing referrals.  I've learned to follow up on referrals regularly.

Hi Leanne thanks for stopping by. It's great to see your photo up there.

I pictured you as a blond. LOL

Thanks, Jay... I guess I should've replaced the lighthouse with my photo waaay before yesterday as I've been on AR 3.5 months now.

Wow, that's a disturbing story to say the least.  I've found great success by placing referrals within my network of CRS agents.  I've found the agents to mostly be very responsible and professional.  Of course, you may have company rules for placing referrals.  If that is the case, I would think you would most certainly want to discuss your experience with your Broker.

Thanks again Diane and yes I have sent a message over to our relocation department. From now on I'll do it myself.

Thanks Jay
