SPAM in My ActiveRain Account !!!!

It has finally happened to me today! I got an e-mail from some spammer claiming to be from Sierra Leone. He and his supposed sister have 18 million in a bank in the Ivory Coast (right) and need assistance in getting it out!

I would like to personally get my hands on the person sending this stuff out! It infuriates me that a web site dedicated to a specific industry is being manipulated and misused by spammers! Is there nothing we can do to track them down and have their computers self-destruct before their very eyes????

OK, I have vented - I feel a little better!!! Anybody else in AR getting this garbage in their e-mail?????

My spam machine seems to be working at the moment, so no, I haven't gotten any in awhile. Have you seen the commercials on TV with the guy on the train with unmatched socks, and appears to be smelly, trying to do this scam? The narrator chimes in that it's difficult to do this in person, that's why these cons are on the Internet. Good commercial.

Paul - Today was the first time this has happened to me in ActiveRain! I was REALLY angry that I was violated here in my safe haven!!!

Patsy - Yes, I guess they had to make it obvious to those who were taking this garbage seriously !!!! I would like to see these people incarcerated!

Bill and Barbara - I have received a few of them. One of them was the standard Nigerian letter, the other was actually more interesting. It was almost like someone trying to pick me up like I was on a dating site and was very risque in the language used.

Got the same one; copied the IP and sent it in to the AR gods. As Dena says, they responded with a day, with a thank you. This guy's been blocked for the moment, but like a shady business, will likely pop up anew, under a new IP......It's just part of life on the internet these days. I sympathize!

We do block the IP addresses of these types of emails. It's a never ending battle. You guys forwarding them on to me helps us to fight it.

Or, maybe you just missed out on your % of 18 million............haha!
