As an avid art glass collector, I am enthralled to report Seattle's Pilchuck Glass School Auction to take place Friday, October 26th, at the Belltown Westin.
The annual contemporary art glass auction will feature the best of international masters and inspiring new talent, in a black tie gala that includes a five course dinner, one live and four silent auctions. Individual tickets start at $250 and range all the way to "Gold Benefactor", where "support at this elevated level provides enough glass for the school’s furnaces for one session".
Support of the arts has always been community-dependent (even in the days of Socrates), and Seattle has been a star. Seattle's rich legacy in art glass can be evidenced from downtown Tacoma's Museum of Glass, to a Chihuly chandelier in a private residence currently listed for sale on Mercer Island at $35M, to the opulent and delightful art glass display suspended mid-air at Bellevue's Lincoln Square entertainment center.
For more information and to receive and invitation to the Pilchuck Art Glass Auction, call Amanda at (206) 621.8422 ext. 50, email ALee@pilchuck.com, or download the RSVP form in pdf format from the Pilchuck Glass school's website.
Alternatively, those who are unable to attend in person can bid using the online auction catalog and join the live auction bidding through Bidspotter.com. Contact Pilchuck Glass School at 206.621.8422, Ext.28 or e-mail esnyder@pilchuck.com for more info.
