If you are planning to sell your home this fall, now is the time to clean up your yard. Here are a few things you can do to make the outside of your home look its best:
- Remove all annual flowers that are no longer blooming or that have become unhealthy in appearance
- Weed all garden beds
- Plant fall flowers such as Chrysanthemums. There are many colours available. Try to choose a colour that accentuates the exterior colour of your home.
- Re-design your flower pots and urns in a fall theme. Coloured ornamental cabbages are a great addition to urns. They give that extra punch and will last until the first snow fall. Also include a few branches for a more interesting look.
- Put away your summer patio furniture. However, if you don't have an outdoor storage shed, it is recommended that you rent a storage unit on a temporary basis. This unit will be of use for other unneeded items as well while you are organizing your home for its sale.
- If your barbeque is located in close proximity to your kitchen, you may want to consider keeping it out for the fall and winter. This will show prospective buyers that there is easy access to the kitchen from outside. They will be able to see the many possibilities open to them such as barbequing in the winter. A lot of people actually do!
- The timers on non-solar outdoor lighting should be readjusted as nightfall is now arriving earlier.
- Last but not least and certainly the most obvious of all items to do, rake up all of the leaves from your lawn on a regular basis to keep your garden tidy.
Fall is a beautiful time of year. Make sure that the outside of your home looks beautiful as well.
