Welcome to The Wildflowers at Wallkill 55 and over active adult living community in Wallkill, New York.
This new, gated 55 and over community was started in 2007 and more homes are being built now. It offers a tranquil setting and the ability to meet other active adults who are over 55 years old and to enjoy a variety of activities together.
The community is in an area that permits easy commuting, because it is close to many major highways. There is public transportation nearby, too. The station for the NJ Transit railroad is close by in Middletown, NY. This train goes to either Secausus or Hoboken, NJ. From there, you can take the PATH (Port Authority Trans Hudson) train which will bring you to the west side of Manhattan in NYC. The trip to the west side of Manhattan is no more than 1.5 hours and travelling by rail is quite comfortable. There are buses that will take you to NYC too.
One of the aspects of this community that I like is that you can live in a single family home while enjoying the best features of condominium living. It's great to let the condominium association take care of the snow removal and lawn care. I know, as a senior, that this is a real benefit. You can park your car in your 2 car attached garage, and let the snow plows clear a path for you to get out. What a pleasure to not have to worry about this chore, anymore!
While you can garden if you'd like to do so, the lush landscaping is also taken care of by your monthly homeowner fee. You can count on beautiful lawns, perennials, annuals, and specimen trees whether you do it yourself or have it done by the management company.
Another advantage of living in this community is that the spacious master bedroom and master bath luxury suite is on the first floor, making it very convenient for seniors who often either don't want to climb stairs to their bedrooms or are beginning to have difficulty doing so. The master bathrooms have both a soaking tub and a separate shower. Access to the shower is easy - no lifting your legs high to get into the tub first!
There is more good news . First of all, the laundry room is conveniently located on the first floor. Second of all, when entering your home from either the garage or your front porch access is very easy, as you can see from the pictures below.
The kitchens in these homes have beautiful wood cabinetry and granite countertops as well as stainless steel appliances.
There are large family rooms with gas fireplaces to enjoy during those cold and snowy winter days and nights and the floor plans are open and airy.
These homes have decks and patios and many have charming rocking chair front porches, too.
It is optional whether to have a walk-out basement and a second floor. Some of the homes that have been built have second floors and/or walk-out basements, but it is not necessary to have this. You may request that a home have or not have these options, if it is being built new.
Many of the homes offer excellent views of the mountains or of a wonderful wooded preserve.
This is country club living at its best!
Currently the amenities available are a beautiful indoor pool, and a fabulous clubhouse with 2 kitchens, a lounge, a library, a fitness center, a card room, a billiard and ping pong area, and a full time activities director who plans wonderful trips.
While I was there I noticed the bulletin board filled with trip offerings including a day in NYC to see Jersey Boys and a trip to Vermont.
Amenities that are planned include an outdoor pool next to the indoor pool, bocce courts, tennis courts, and a putting green.
This development is great for people who want to leave lawn care and snow removal to someone else, find friends in a similar age bracket, enjoy community activities, and still have the pleasure of owning a single family home. Many other 55 and over communities are arranged in apartment style buildings or attached townhouse designs.
Wildflowers at Wallkill provides the features of 55+ active adult living while allowing for single family home ownership!
