A Great Solution to a Smelly Problem

Living in the southwest means having to deal with a lot of desert critters - rattlesnakes, coyotes and the occasional skunk. There have been a few times that my pups have tangled with a 'perfume kitty'. The old wives tale of using tomato juice is actually ineffective. The goal is to get rid of that smell as soon as possible and here's the best solution. Many friends have used this recipe with great success.
As always, be extra careful with any critters your animals might interact with. Many wild animals carry rabies and other diseases so, if your pet does have a run in, take them to the vet for a quick check up for puncture wounds (bites) or other possible problems. I learned a while back that, no matter what I did to clear out the desert around the house, they still came. If you have a pool, you'll definitely see more activity. You can talk to your neighbors or your vet for suggestions on how to keep critters out of your yard. For example, mothballs are supposed to work wonders with keeping skunks away. Tomato juice is not the way to go anymore...unless you're looking to make some Bloody Mary's.

Great information, thanks for sharing! Fortunately, I have never had to deal with this, but it's good to know that tomato juice doesn't work!
