I Went to Meet a Client, and Walked into a car Show - - - Pay it Forward
I had an appointment to visit with a selling client early afternoon Sunday. As were going to meet at his place of business for what should have been at best 15 minutes.
As I tried to get into the Industrial Park, I was stopped by barricades and told that I could not enter unless I was exhibiting and would have to walk up.
I found a place to park, started the walk, and then was stopped to pay the spectator fee. I know I could have explained my purpose, especially as I had a file of papers with me, but as the young lady had a most precious smile and the event was to help the United Way of Naugatuck CT, I put my hand into my pocket and paid the fee.
The car show was originally sponsored by Groundup Restorations of Naugatuck. This year, they invited the United Way of Naugatuck CT to assist and benefit from the show.
There were 300 cars exhibiting, and several hundred spectators. There was a rather entertaining DJ playing music with a beat and all recognizable to someone who grew up in the 60's.
My few minutes of consult, turned into a 90 minutes walk. I saw a 56 Chevy coupe identical to the one I had in high school.
There was a 67 Mustang, similar to one I had also, and a 1929 Ford Model A Sport Coupe, that was very similar to the one I left parked in my garage.
I don't begrudge the lost time at all. I got to visit with my client; I got to listen to some real music, and I saw a few cars that stirred some memories, in addition to helping the United Way of Naugatuck CT.
