The Arrogant And Competent Sound The Same To The Complacent

By

The arrogant and competent sound the same to the complacent! The choice is yours every time you speak or write. Are you arrogant and braggadocios? Or do you speak from the competence fostered by the knowledge of education and experience? Have you done all you say, can you repeat it?

Remember, the arrogant and competent sound the same to the complacent! The complacent assume the worst, it's easer for them than analyzing and learning.

The masses often see you as braggadocios as many are. They also see your statements as a personal affront. They see your accomplishments as an insult if they exceed theirs.

I'm guilty. We all are! My regular readers have seen me say repeatedly that I never accept "No" and that "I never let other's limitations limit me!"It may be that the competent are all arrogant, but the majority of the arrogant ane not competent.

As real estate professionals we walk a thin line. We have to tailor our speech to the chosen audience and our chosen goal.

We've got to extrude competency when soliciting business and teaching. But, seeking help requires a more demure approach.

Are you arrogant or competent they sound the same? Do you seek the adoration of the brown proboscis masses or the understanding of a few?

Contemplate your speech as you would your actions.

Bill, I agree the two are very close.  There have been times that I have thought that someone was arrogant but once I got to know them I learned differently.  But there have also been other times that the peoson has ended up proving my initial impression correctly.

George,

You're very right!

I thought about writing about how we perceive people, it's just as important, probably more so! I read allot more than I write.

I'm glad you got to know me, I'd have missed you.

Very thougtful post!

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Paul,

I've read your philosophy, that sounds very competent to me, too!

  • Live by the "get by giving" philosophy...
  • Make my clients #1 Goal, my #1 Goal...
  • Live up to my Standards, despite temptations to lower them...
  • Be willing to work toward a Common good...
  • and to Do what I say I will Do, sometimes more, just never less.

Thanks for the kind remarks!
