Home Staging Tip:  Get The Buyers At "Hello"!

First impressions are so important!  Whether it's a job interview, first date, or selling your house, make every effort to grab positive attention at "Hello!"

The foyer provides the first impression of this wonderful family house located in Fairfield County, Connecticut.  Initially, the space felt crowded and cluttered with patterns and photos.

Removed:  Three wallpaper patterns, fussy Aubusson-style rugs, floral wreath, small chest, and family photos.

Added: Fresh paint in light neutrals, one large colorful landscape, and crisp crown molding.

Lost:  Dated, Victorian feel.

Gained:  Spacious feel, accent on architectural moldings as well as gleaming hardwood floors.

With the advice from Nestings Home Staging, this traditional home acquired an updated look that is still in keeping with the character of the house and neighborhood.  Buyers will feel welcome, not overwhelmed, and want to explore the rest of the house!  Make them say:  "You had me at Hello!"

Yes, the changes sure did make a difference.  Isn't it interesting how a new set of eyes makes a difference?

I use that term too "get them at hello", those first few seconds in the home usually make or break the deal. Great examples in your photos Julie!

Granny would have loved it before, Julie -- but buyers will make an offer now that it's been transformed with your magic!  Fantastic improvement with the crown molding added, too!

Hi Julia--The before picture would have solicited "good-bye" immediately after "hello" for most buyers.  Love your transformation!

Julia, I know how difficult it must have been to get those sellers to make a change but this is fabulous transformation and getting them at the "hello" says it all-you never have a second chance to make a first impression!

Julia -- I like your descriptor of 'fussy'. Very apropos.  Looks so much better. Those family photos were sure distractions as well. Nice job!

Hi Cheryl - that's one value stagers provide:  that objective, third party POV.

Sharon - the young family likes this style, but it might not suit others.

Karne & Anna - you know how to get them at Hello!

Thanks, Debbie & Judy!

Maureen - the sellers decided to add it - great improvement that will add value!

First impressions are everything, Kathleen!

Janet - very funny - "Buh-Bye!"

Valerie & Joanna:  It took three conversations about the wallpaper!

Wow - thanks, Kathy!

Barbara:  When family photos are the principle source of artwork, it is tough!
