Finally, Some Good News for the Washington Metro Real Estate Market

Finally, some great news for the Washington Real Estate Market.  According to Inman we are among the top 15 performing markets in the United States.

During the first half of 2011 we saw an over all increase in prices of 4.4% and for the remainder of 2011 we are expected to see a 2.8% over all gain in property values.

The Baltimore/Towson market is still sluggish to improve though, largely because of the number of foreclosed and boarded up investment homes entering the market and being sold in Baltimore City and slow economic growth in Baltimore City as well.  Once investors snatch up those fantastic deals in Baltimore City and return them to the market as improved homes the values in Baltimore will also improve.  Investors need not be so lofty in their goals for income and look at the bigger picture and be satisfied with a gain of $20,000 or so per property so that economic growth can continue.  There are some great opportunities to purchase homes in the under $10,000 price range, make $30,000 or so in repairs then resell for $75,000 to $85,000.  This would provide jobs and return homes to productive use and improve Baltimore City's tax revenues.
