Photography | Seeing What's in Plain Sight in Perhaps a New Light

For most of you that follow my blog, you know that I promote the city of SAN DIEGO for it's many attributes, it's historical significance, housing, events and the many other amenities of living in San Diego.

I attended one of the most marvelous Concerts in the Park yesterday late afternoon in Balboa Park. With the thousands in attendance I would arrive a couple hours early with camera in tow, I had time to collect additional photos and refine my collection of photos of Balboa Park.

As I was approaching the International Area of the park, I came upon a bush of white flowers that I was unfamiliar with.  The detail in the flowers  reminded me of a hand made paper or perhaps a piece of wrinkled cotton. Never wanting to pass up an opportunity for an interesting photo, I took advantage of what most people would just pass by and ignore by capturing and sharing it here for all of you to see. The Rose of Sharon bush was prolific with these approx. 6 inch diameter flowers though it was clear it was near the end of it's blooming cycle.

As the concert time approached, I found that many people had moved away from the main areas of the park allowing me to get a few new photos of many of the museums without the usual throng of people cluttering up the building details.

While there were also fewer people around the reflecting pool down in front of the Botanical Building ( not pictured here) and the sun was affecting some interesting color casts on the water Lilies, I seized the opportunity for some new photos that showed them off in a new light.

Balboa Park is a treasure trove but within the treasure are many more smaller treasures.  As I make my visits now more close up and personal, I have begun to see things that have always been there, in perhaps a new light. Certainly from a more detailed perspective and these treasures also seem endless as I continue the pursuit.
