Markus started kindergarten this year.  It was a time that I was dreading, as I knew as soon as he did, time would fly by and he would be graduating from high school.

When the girls were younger, I didnt have the opporunity to do a lot with their schools besides be a room parent.  Some of their fondest memories are of things we did through the school.

As I was looking at schools for Markus, I knew I really wanted him to attend Community Christian School in Stockbridge, Ga.  I just hadnt made my mind up completely.  Yes, I was a last minute, please let there be room type mom.

Anyway, I reached out to the school to let them know that I am a concerned parent and that I wanted to be invloved. That is when the topic came up of being a Partner In Education.

This is actually a great move if you want to support a school plus get your name out into the community.  There are many ways you can do this.  It can be a monetary donation to the school, volunteering at events or as needed, and sometimes stepping in and helping with the students. Often, it can be as simple as helping staple papers or maybe speaking about your career.

We are in the middle of our first venture as a Partner In Education.  We are sponsoring an Art contest for the school.  Keep in mind this is a private school with about 884 students.

The contest is split up into 3 levels.  Nursery and Preschool, Elementary School, and Middle and High School.

The theme is "Blessings" and "Giving Thanks".

The contest runs through November 7th, which at that time, those that work in our office will go to the school and choose the top 3 from each category.  We will be awarding trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places and everyone  else will get an Honorable Mention ribbon.

The class with the most participants will be awarded a pizza party.

In return for doing this, here is what we get.

A banner that shows we are sponsoring the event at the Open house to be held on November 8th.  It was announced that we are sponosring the event in the school newspaper (which goes out to the community as well). There are a few other newsletters that go home with the students that also announced the contest.

Anything that we donate, regardless of what it is will be tied to our name throughout the year.

It is great advertising and with little cost.

More importantly....

Your making an impact on the students.  Your showing them that you care enough to give your time to help them become more successful.

If you have a heart, it quickly becomes more about the students than getting your name out there. The truth is though, your heart knows your doing right, but when that phone rings because someone heard about you through the school, a huge smile will come across your face.

We are also becoming partners with my daughters school, Jonesboro High School.

Partner Up!

That is such a great thought. It's amazing to think of the things we can do to advertise with so little cost.

Karen ~ There are tons of things you can do in the community that will get your name out there without spending a lot of money.  Just need to be creative enough and genuinely concerned about the community to do it.  I appreciate you stopping by.
