I am what I am... My day as a Realtor:

  • I wake up and make some Starbucks or just heat up from yesterday's brew.
  • Log on PC and check emails from clients/customers.
  • Jump in the shower quick.
  • Run my Twins to school and deal with traffic trying to get them there on time.
  • I check my phone for appointments and start running down my activities for the day.
  • I start answering and returning calls from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM some times.
  • I run to rental properties, ones I manage and ones that I've placed in others, and check on problems with appliances and such some times.
  • I stop by the Title Company and check on status of different projects (contracts under escrow) and chat on what's happening with the market from their file loads.
  • I answer calls from renters who want me to show them houses at the drop of a dime. (Of course, I tell them that we have to schedule. I'm not a go-for boy!)
  • I manage to get in a quick sandwich now and then.
  • I get on the computer and do property searches for clients and customers.
  • I show homes.
  • I run back to the school to pick up my Twins.
  • Some times show homes with my Twins or otherwise back on the computer doing property searches, blogging, checking emails, and putting together comparative market analysis reports.
  • I try to keep the house clean, make simple meals for my Twins, answer calls, do laundry, and catch some valuable time with my Twins.

I'm a Realtor and I'm a slave to my business!

Why do I do this? Because I haven't won the lottery yet. Because I can't think of another enjoyable job to do and that I'm qualified for without spending lots of money and time. Of course, I'd rather be fishing some times, driving a NASCAR or Indy Car, dreaming of what it's like to play football for Ohio State Buckeyes, play golf on the PGA tour, be Maria Sharapova's ball boy, or making an action movie. Other than that, I'm a REALTOR! And there are other GOOD Realtors like me who work just as hard.

Most and BEST of all, I'm a single father of beautiful TWINS!

Hi Kris,

I sleep so-so at night. I average about 4-5 hours a night if I'm lucky.

One of my dreams is to see what it would be like to get 7-8 hours of continuous sleep on any given night. WOW.

Are you anywhere near Tawas City? I think I spelled that correctly. Nice vacation - visitor area that I've been to. My best visit to Michigan was seeing a WHO concert at Pontiac Silverdome many, many years ago. Several college friends and I packed up my little pickup truck and did a road trip to see the WHO. There were over 100,000 people in the stadium. Eddie Money opened up. Terrific concert.

I hope the market is good for you! With winter coming, it slows down quiet a bit in colder climates, right?

Cheers, KIM.
