Have you ever seen a Walmart that was so beautiful that you stopped to take a picture?  Let's face it, most Walmarts and other box stores are not particularly attractive.  Functional...yes.  Attractive.....not really.

The Walmart in Woodland Park is an exception.   Woodland Park is a small, flourishing city located 18 miles to the west of Colorado Springs in Teller County.

Sunrise at Woodland Park's Walmart

This picture was taken at sunrise.  As result, some of the special features are not as noticeable.  This Walmart's features include the statue in the front, split rail fencing, very nice landscaping, decorative light fixtures in the parking lots, green instead of  the trademark blue on the building, etc.

Your title grabbed me.  I never thought a WalMart could be beautiful but this one proves me wrong.

Hi Sondra - well, I'm not sure I'd call it beautiful, but it certainly is exceptional for a Wal-Mart. And the setting is gorgeous, which helps a lot. Nice to see them make an effort like this and wish they had done better here in Fort Collins and Loveland.

Sondra, This looks nothing like our nearby WalMarts.  Hopefully, their pricing is still low.  Best wishes always.

They've done a great job blending it in with the natural landscape.

Sondra, this does not look bad for a WalMart!  I wonder if they did this in response to some community pressures.

Sondra! This is amazing really. Colorado is a State unto itself. Such beauty, history and ambiance. This really does not surprise me. I wish Texas Wally's would take a lesson! With the shopping choices in a small mountain town it probably was created to "fit in" and it certainly does! Hugs to you dear friend and we miss you here.

Sondra,

Nice to see them trying to blend in and compliment the landscape verses scream blue light special for miles around.  Happy Wednesday and thanks for sharing!

Are you sure you weren’t out in Blossom Valley? We have one that looks just like that out there. It’s in the boondocks, so I don’t get there very often. I can’t believe you came to San Diego and didn’t call me! I guess I know where I stand with you! JJJJ

Hi Sondra,

ALL Walmarts should look like that!  It is a very beautiful building.  But not the trademark Walmart that is so recognizable.

Maybe they should start doing this with more of the Walmarts. It certainly blends well with the surroundings. I think I'll send Walmart an email and tell them we want some attractive Walmart's in our area, more inviting.

If only other big giant superstores would learn from that! Blends right in and make you wanna stop there. What a great combo!
