Challenge for Western Bloggers:  Show Your Lily Colors

We have Longwood Gardens in the east, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. One of the annual exhibits il LilyTopia, the largest display of lilies in North America.  www.LongwoodGardens.org

I challenge western bloggers to show the color of your lilies to see if you can match what is available in the east.

Share your best photographs in the comments for this post.  If you are in the east, share your colors as well.  Life is better when there are flowers to photograph!

Hi Roy~ I noticed some tiger lilies the other day when I was walking. They may not hold a candle to your multi colored beauties, but I'm going to snap a few shots and give it a try!

Best regards from Seattle...

Hi Roy, what a gorgeous lily. I cannot match any of my photos with yours - you are a master of flower photography. Also, I haven't been taking many photos lately - I am taking summer off to enjoy time with my family. I hope you're having have great summer.

Roy, I didn't have any luck with lilies when I lived in the Chicago area.  I tried to grow them here with some afternoon shade.  Sadly, I have had no luck.  So, I have to rely on your beautiful photos to remind me of the beauty of these plants.

Roy, I love this challenge and wish I could participate.  But, no, I'm in Arizona - no such things as those beautiful day lilies.

Thanks so much for your comments. Have a wonderful day and an outstanding weekend.

We have beautiful weather in Maryland for home buyers to get out to make their purchase selections.  Buyers are anxious to take advantage of the attractive home prices and the very low mortgage interest rates.  First time home buyers are being offered FHA financing at 4.5% with no points.

Roy,

That's a beautiful lily!  It certainly is unique and does have that "peppered" look like William says in comment #13.

Here is one of my favorite lily photos I took years ago at Botanica, The Wichita Gardens in Wichita, KS.

DYK? Mosquito Breeding Groundsmosquito
With all the rain we've been having, there are lots more potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Did you know that in order to breed, mosquitoes need a still water supply that's been around for about five to ten days? They don't breed in moving water or in places where standing water might evaporate in a day or two. You can interrupt that breeding process by dumping water every couple of days from birdbaths, pools, fishponds, unused flower pots, grill covers - anyplace around your property where water might accumulate. The City maintains a webpage with lots of information and helpful links about mosquitoes and the health risks they can present. Explore it all here.
