Back when Facebook was in its infancy it was cool because it was exclusive. You had to be part of the Harvard University network...students and alumni. It wasn't an easy club to join. For almost everyone it would be impossible in those days.
Google+ is playing the exclusivity card right now and is cool because you need an invitation to join. There are many social networks on the web that play that exclusive card to the limit. Asmallworld.net is a club that is so exclusive that even after gaining access to it you won't be able to invite even your best friend for perhaps...never. So Google+ which is still invitation only has grown to over 10 Million members in almost no time at all.
Perhaps Google+ will really get it and be customer friendly. Maybe they will have really learned from where Face Book dropped the ball. The best quote in the following article talks about how Google+ made it easy to run away from all those FB "friends" that you are too embarrassed to unfriend. Funny.
