Your kitchen is circa 1987, you’re short on cash on hand and you need to get top dollar for your home. What to do? Luckily, there are a number of quick and easy kitchen upgrades Phyllis Frankel Realty Group suggests that won’t put a serious dent in your wallet. Here’s what you can do today to change the look of your home for sale:

    • A fresh coat of paint – If you have wood cabinets that are outdated, but still in good condition, your best bet for an instant facelift is a fresh coat of paint. Remove the cabinet doors, remove the door hinges and hardware, and paint them with a high-gloss paint. Then add new handles and hardware to your freshly painted doors. While you’re at it, paint your kitchen a warm, neutral color that will appeal to the masses and remove any wallpaper or wallpaper borders, as they are too taste-specific.

    • Change out your countertops – Although a granite countertop will cost you a pretty penny, you can often get away with putting in a high-quality laminate instead. Laminate countertops are inexpensive and easy to install, and many of today’s top laminate countertops even resemble marble or granite.

    • Add a backsplash focal point – There are so many backsplash options available at your local home improvement center that are easy to install and relatively inexpensive, making this upgrade easy and quickly noticeable to buyers. From tin panels to decorative glass tiles, a backsplash is an inexpensive change that can make a big difference between a bland kitchen and one that gets noticed by buyers.

  • Pep up your flooring – If you are good with a wet saw, ceramic tiled kitchen floors are always a hit with buyers, but vinyl and laminate flooring are also becoming quite popular. Don’t be turned off by the idea of vinyl flooring, as there are a great number of looks and options available to suit any home’s style or décor.
