               and hopefully a delicious desert.

Duane McMurtrey talked about an upcoming golf tournament at Alta Vista Country Club

on September 12th to benefit our returning troops.  Duane is involved with

an organization called Tee It Up For the Troops that raises funds to help

meet the needs of returning military veterans.  Today he also presented

Bob Meyer with a check for $2000 to support Operation a Bit of Home.

Wayne Silzel was our secret greeter and caught only poor Mariane Koepnick unaware.

He also talked about an upcoming trip to Europe with the Muckenthaler Cultural

Center.  The trip feaures Austria, Germany, France and Switzerland and

runs from December 9-17.  For more information contact John Gamblin

            at 714-692-2210 or johngamblin@sbcglobal.net.

importance of attending make-up meetings at other clubs.  Make-ups can

          also be done on-line.

on August 20th.  Millie Alexander and Mariane Koepnick expressed interest.

Jay Applebaum updated us on progress with a possible International Matching Grant

to help Operation Hope's future missions to Zimbabwe.  Last week's speaker

and Operation Hope Executive Director has given me Rotary contacts in

Zimbabwe who are very interested in pursuing a grant.  We have communicated

and will start exploring the process of creating the grant.  I am having lunch

tomorrow with Orange North Rotarian Ken Caplin, who is a self proclaimed

Grant maven.  So we're off.   I'll keep you updated on our progress. Hopefully,

we can Skype with Jennifer while she's in Zimbabwe on her next mission so our

club can get a  sense of the life changing surgeries that her organization is performing.

Pete Moriarty- Membership Chair - encouraged us all to keep recruiting new members.

Our dining out on August 1st or Bob Meyer's presentation on July 28th provide

an excellent opportunity to invite guests.  Dan Friedl and Dale Dagley have now

come to two meetings and have expressed interest in  membership.

Linda Bartrom-Olsen- is committed to getting a Rotaract back on track at Santiago Canyon

College and Interact back at Lutheran HIgh.
