Young people in love.  Everyone of us has either said or heard this - "You are my first."  Whether or not you fell for it believed it - is a different story.

Now here's what happened that made me think of my first.  26 years old, she relocated to Tucson two years ago; has been employed with the same company a total of five years if you count same company-different state; called about a rental "I'm in love with it" she shrieks and submits an application.

Background check reveals outstanding credit score - high 700s; one credit card and one car payment in past 5 years - nothing else other than great income.  Calling her back to say your qualified - she says, "I would only like to sign a years lease because I have been waiting to buy a home."

What are you waiting for?  Well, I met this real estate agent guy when I moved here and he said I needed to live in Tucson for at least three years before I could buy a home.  He also said that I would need to pay my car off first as well.  I seeBut did you ever talk to a lender to get a second opinion - or really anyone else?

No.  But she can't wait to own her own home and is so excited and has been renting this agents home since she got here but he is selling it now.  Gosh help me - please tell me this person isn't an agent anymore and that you are not going to have him help you buy a home - is what I am thinking!

There are really sweet, naive, honest, trustworthy people still out there in this world that will hang on to every word someone says.  And there are others who will take advantage of them to get what they want.  Was she taken advantage of by this agent?  Well - depends on how you look at it is what my first said!  Just kidding!!  Without knowing all the details - sure does appear that way.

What I know for sure is - she doesn't want to be a renter. From what I saw on paper - she can buy.  She is talking with a lender today and my advice to her was whoever she picks as an agent - don't just believe everything they say, remember that trust is earned - and if you go with the first agent you meet - ask questions!

Wow! I can not believe an agent would say something like that! Tenant or not! Get them in a home... that's your job and your duty as an agent!

Joe, thanks for reblogging this one because I missed it the first time around.  I don't even understand the agent/landlord (whatever he is) motive in all this.  To have a tenant for his place rather than make a sale.

GOOD MORNING JOE!  Thanks for the reblog!  I got several comments from everyone who visits your page!  I am not much of a talker and generally listen - but when this call came in - I just ran over my mouth with not only my opinion but more!  Couldn't believe this was happening and do not understand the motivation of this agent.  Anyway - thanks again!

Better Than Your Average Joe

Jen- Sorry to admit it but I can

Gina- I figure he makes more in the long run on his rental and then thinks hes going to get the sale too.  Greed

Brenda- I'm glad to be back.

Wandanna-  This was not my story, it was a reblog

Barb- I know it is.

Gabrielle- I do , greed.  $1000 a month over 12 months equals $12k.  A sale maybe $5k.  Get the rental and the sale $17K.  Greed

Ridhi- I'm not as you can see from above.
